Why are some people upset over the boodborne pc petition?

So the inevitable petition to get Bloodborne on PC showed up, even though I don't think anyone ever expects it to happen. What surprises me though, is how many people are upset about there being a petition at all. I've seen a lot of console gamers posting about how "disgusting" it is that people want a PC port. I don't really understand why anyone would care if they made a port and it almost just seems like they want to have something to hold over the heads of people who only play on PC. I certainly wouldn't call it "disgusting" to want to be able to play a game, without having to buy a whole new console just to play that single game. I haven't bought a PS4 because frankly, it hasn't had any games that interested me until now, and I'm wrestling with whether or not it's worth it to pay close to $500 for a single game. I know it won't ever be ported to PC but it sure would be nice. But I just don't see why anyone cares if some people want to chase an impossible dream. Even if hell froze over and it came to PC, it wouldn't affect the PS4 version any

Oh, you know what gamers on the internet are like.

Monumentally petty bunch. Can't enjoy something unless they can do so in a manner that makes them feel better than someone else.

It happens whenever there's talk of an exclusive game going multi-platform. The owners of the exclusive promptly start whining up a storm, coming up with all sorts of justifications to try and hide the fact that they're upset at the thought of their purchasing decisions being rendered that little bit less special.

Plus, you're dealing with the Dark Souls fanbase here, a particularly odious mob. These are the people who risk rupturing their spleens in outrage at the mere thought of an easy difficulty setting. It wouldn't affect their own play, but the notion that more people might finish the game is enough to ruin their lunch. Once again, it makes their own achievement that little bit less special. Same deal with the idea of a multi-platform release, except in that case the "achievement" being cheapened is "owning a PS4".

That said, given the woeful state of the PC port for Dark Souls, I'm not sure the PC crowd is missing much. From Software clearly couldn't port their way out of a paper bag. Last time some solo modder stepped in and cleaned up their miserable mess with less than 24 hours work.

Pretty sure if I bought a PS4, solely to play Bloodborne, then find out that I didn't need to do that in the first place, I'd be pretty pissed off.

Calling the petition "disgusting" though? Nah, more like "useless".

I don't see the problem either. Honestly, nothing in the new gen market of consoles really appeals to me. At this rate I'll be investing in my own PC so I won't have to deal with all the BS that happened during the reveals, and I don't feel like I'm alone in that. One really nice looking game isn't worth hundreds of dollars for a machine I'd use sparingly.

This.

Every gaming platform comes with it's very own collection of toddlers. They're jealous another kid is playing with a toy and will not be content until they can play with it, reaching full enjoyment if noone else can play with that toy until they've gotten bored with it.

It might also be a bit to do with PC gamers viewing their own platform as the only 'hardcore' platform out there. A title released on the ps4 that is also deemed the same title, just messes with pc gamers heads. Perfect example => http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/comicsandcosplay/comics/critical-miss/13596-New-Xbox-One-Controller-Comic
(psst, that comic was meant to be taken ironically)

That said, ps4 gamers react evenly petty to that, wanting their preferred console to also be viewed as a 'hardcore gaming machine'.

End of the day, everyone wants to be called hardcore. It's the same with smoking in high school, only the cool kids did it, so if you wanted to be cool, you smoked.

Captcha says, I have fallen... Is that supposed to be some veiled reference to Lord of the Fallen?

I guess because of the PC gaming master race? They literally can't allow a single good game to be a console exclusive, because how else would they justify their $3,000+ 'rig'?
You'll sooner see an Xbone, 360 and PS3 release.

I don't understand why people are so naïve on how publishing works. Like Demon Souls, Bloodborne is published by Sony so a PC version is an impossibility. I am well aware that Amazon France had a recent listing of a PC version but I have a hard time believe that it was not an error.

Why does it matter to the console players though? They still have their games. It's not like a PC port would somehow take the game away from PS4 players.

I mean, I thoroughly enjoyed Journey and The Last of Us which were exclusive to PS3. I wouldn't be remotely upset or annoyed if those games got ported. It would be ridiculously childish of me to do so. "Ohh nooo, other people will get to enjoy the games I enjoyed! Waaaaaah!"

It's just so fucking petty.

Gaming politics man. Always been this way. Back during the 90s war, everyone would have benefited from Perfect Dark being on the PS1 and Sonic whatever being on the N64, but they had to exclusive them out to breed discontent.
I mean Bloodborne looks fun. If I had the cash kicking about, and the PS4 had maybe 3-4 other good games I could grab at some point, I'd get the set.
But if BB comes out for PC? Well I already got a decent PC. So would I rather play it at good graphics on a PS4 at huge costs, or at decent graphics on my PC for $60?
And that is an equation some PS4 owners would rather not be asked, because then they'd feel foolish for having gotten the PS4 in the first place.
The whole PC/Console war is just one long self-esteem issue where each side tries desperately to prove they didn't make a mistake.

Didn't from software say they didn't know how to make PC games BEFORE porting dark souls? Also wasn't from software completly shat on AFTER the released the PC port that gamers DEMANDED? Also if memory serves the EXACT same thing happened with Dark souls 2?

As far as i'm conserned , PC gamers don't deserve a port for the reasons stated above. Also they don't know how. I wouldn't make a Pianist play a guitar just like i wouldn't make a console developper make a PC game.

Anyways that's how i remember it. If i'm wrong let me know.

that petition is kind of elitist as fuck tho. stuff like "BB is a real game, so put it on a real gamers platform", are pretty much the biggest reason there. Am I salty that I can't play BB on my PC? sure, but I understand why it isn't happening. Sony paid for the game, so of course it is going to be a Sony exclusive. I am glad that SFV will not be ps4 exclusive even though Sony also paid partly for that one.

But here is the question, is Bloodborne are reason to buy a ps4? It's a good argument, but I don't see any other ps4 exclusive I consider a must-have.

Yeah, that's basically what happened.

And they were rightly shat on. They released a shit port, and put fucking GFWL in it to boot. That warranted a good shitting I'd say.

What should the PC folks have done? Thanked From Software for trying to sell a port that barely worked? I think not.

If they didn't know what they were doing they should have just outsourced it, hired somebody who did know what they were doing. Given that one amateur was able to fix most of their mess within 24 hours, I don't think it would have cost much to get it done properly.

Would have been easy money for the publisher, had they not fucked it up.

Never understood it. When I find a game I like, I want everyone to be able to play it, and feel sad when they cannot. It would never occur to me to feel happy that a game I felt was worthy of a wide audience would be limited due to something as petty as hardware exclusivity.

It's a very similar attitude to the one you see displayed in most MMOs when content gets nerfed or made easier to access. "Oh, they removed the keying requirements from Tempest Keep, now everyone is getting welfare epics and cheapening our awesomeness."

There's a definite attitude among some folks that they can't enjoy their games unless they're actively lording something over other players while they do it.

Well recently a few console games that thoroughly enjoy came to the PC and they were: Cheaper, better looking, had bonuses, and half the DLC was already added in. I can see were the disgruntlement can come from especially if you already bought the game, I mean you did buy the inferior version.

The petition was started by a guy called "A Big Guy For You" [http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/baneposting] so you can probably assume it wasn't made in good faith.

Because some gamers are literally the worst. This shouldn't be news to anybody.

Honestly, it would be nice if it did get ported (though from what I've heard the Dark Souls port was terrible, so), that way more people could play it.
But we're always going to have the whiny pissbaby demographic- including people who don't want things to be ported to PC, and the people who see PC as inherently superior to anything not-PC.

Doesn't really matter to me seeing as I have a gaming PC and a PS4. The more the merrier.
But I hope if they do port it that they at least try and make it halfway decent.

Something something "entitled".
Also the lifeline of consoles is exclusivity. Without it, you get what the ps4 is now. Nothing.
They are kinda parasitic that way and since "that's the way it has always been", people defend that.

I guess I can sort of get it if you feel a game you love is getting a lot of time and manpower thrown at it that could instead be used towards expanding the game you own or making another one. Especially if you feel the audience the port is being made for is underappreciative.

But, yeah, still pretty petty. And "disgusting"? I mean, I know the Internet is pretty damn bad about things like scale and perspective, but come on. It might annoy you, or if you have a particularly short fuse, infuriate you, but if it's causing you actual nausea you should probably see your doctor.
