It's one of Life's great mysteries, isn't it? Why are we here? I mean, are we the product of some cosmic coincidence, or is there really a God, watching everything? Y'know, with a plan for us 'n' stuff. I don't know man, but it keeps me up at night.
Damn, ninja'd.

To entertain God or Gods, unless they have the ability to not ever be bored! Or the explanation from South Park was pretty good, aliens collected different creatures from other planets and put them all on one planet to see what would happen.

There is no 'why' there is only 'how'.

Asking 'why are we here' is liking asking a chemical reaction if it thinks it has a moral purpose in life.
typical example of flawed logic thinking. the world wasn't built on logic, logic was conceived by sentient species as an elaborate stimuli-response way of thinking. the best example to counter this is what has been discovered in quantum science.

there's much we don't know, and making assumptions only drives us further away from the answers. perhaps a chemical reaction does know that it has a moral purpose in life; how would you know?

I'm here to ride bikes, have fun and make babies (once I find the right girl for me...)

As for the rest of you, that's your problem.

Assuming that life does not exist, we are a freak accident that should not be here right now.

there have been several threads exactly like this one, some of them had the exact same name. use the search forums button next time.
This. Oh so this! Why can't people post in one thread, when it's about those big stuff. You know. The stuff even non-forum-members can figure out has allready ben made.

As to OP. Allright. You don't care that it's been made before? What kind of aditude is that? Dude. It's a reason why people are bitchin' about double posted threads. Why oh, why won't people grasp this simple thing?

We are here to live and to die. Nothing else will make a difference, unless you blow up the world or something, but I don't think many people do that.
I don't believe there is a purpose for us being here. We just are and in a couple of years we won't and then there'll be others.
Are you sure? Because I'm pretty confident that I saw some news about someone blowing up the world ...

Couple of years?? Oh dear. I must be a super-human. I mean if the average living time is two years. Dude, I'm 19! I'm old, yo!

To continue the species.

Anything you do extra is a bonus.
This. Why are people so destined that there is a specific purpose to life? We're just here to breed. To keep the species going. THe thing is, though. People aren't as fond of this purpose.

I was asking around what other people thought. And I've gotten several interesting answers. Too bad I only remember one

One guy said that we're here to have fun. That's it. We're only here to have fun. And so I asked "What about fishes?" Well he answered "Fishes are also here to have fun".

Prepare for religious flamewar in 3... 2... 1...

...

Iunno, but I think the beauty and curse of life is that there is no objective meaning aside from breeding, but even then, that's very personal to the individual, and not meaningful in an all-of-humanity sense. The Good-And-Bad thing is the world will forget the majority of people here ever existed. I'm sure some are afraid of that, and some are relieved.

Or you could be religious.

Personally, I'm hoping that we're all facets of an amalgamation of all our consciousnesses experiencing ourselves subjectively through the lens of billions of different humans. But that's just because I have a soft-spot for Bill Hicks.

What? I mean why are we out here, in this canyon?

What was all that stuff about god? Do you want to talk about it?
