Wow, I thought Prototype looked pretty good, even though it could've been excused appearance because it was just so much fun. :)
Dragon Age Origins... Graph... OH You people were probably playing it on the 360 :) Apparantly the graphics were awful on the 360. I played it on the PC and I was impressed with how detailed the Darkspawn were (Example of good usage of better graphics. They were all the more scary because the detail on their flesh and spiked teeth and the blood and the... oh I feel all faint.)
Prototype is a super fun game and a blast to play (except near the end where it just becomes super difficult). I did play Dragon Age on the 360 and I saw no excuse for the graphics to be as scaled down as they were. However I find it hard to believe that on the computer the graphics would be much better. The blood splatter was just a random unrealistic splatter of blood and it occured no matter what you killed. I killed a rat and was drenched in blood, it made no sense.

When I switched from my SD tv, to a HD tv I simply stood there and drooled at the way Fallout 3 looked. It was so much better.

Having said that, my favorite current generation game is still Metroid Prime Trilogy for the Wii, and besides part 3, the graphics are dated, but still the game play is what makes this my number 1 game.

Metroid Prime Trilogy for the Wii represents what Nintendo is doing wrong. They are repackaging Gamecube titles and charging $50 to do so. I am not saying the games weren't fun on the original gamecube but I wouldn't rebuy them just to have less precise controls.

Seriously, the reviews for DA all say that the 360 graphics were a lot worse :)
And the blood splatter was stupid. I got a mod to change it to something a little more realistic and toned down. I just meant that the darkspawns had like bloodstains on their skin as part of the texture :)

I'm one of the people that doesn't really care for HD. I don't see it as being any more visually "better" than any other resolution, so I find it pointless. It doesn't help that only one television in my house has HD capacity, and I cannot use it very often.

Me, I was pissed when Mass Effect 2's subtitles were almost entirely illegible and I had to constantly balance the sound to attempt to understand what everyone was saying. The entire last scene left me confused, as I just selected whatever answer defaulted to the Paragon choice...

I don't quite understand what the hype for HD is. At the most, it's just more cables to plug in for me xD

What part of this PC screenshot looks any better than the 360 version? I got this from www.ignpc.com off the newest expansion.

You said it near the beginning of your reply. You don't actual game on HD because there is only one HD capable TV in your house. Who is to say how nice your HD set even really is. However if you want a clear showing to HDs power plug your HD system like a PS3 or Xbox 360 into that HD set with component cables or HDMI. Once on you can go to video settings and change it 420i/p and see the graphics (non-HD), then change it to 720p or 1080p and I promise you there is a noticeable difference.

50?

I got mine for 30 euro's.
that's 3 games for half the price of what I paid for the third game alone.

30 Euros is over $40. So I am glad you got 3 old ass games for the price of one but you were still resold old games and made Nintendo's CEO that much richer. I heard they re-released Pikmin you might want to jump on that, also Donkey Kong Kongo Bongo. Enjoy. Meanwhile I will live in this generation and play new games.

There's a video comparison here:

The truth is, I stand corrected. There doesn't seem to be the crippling difference between them that I read in reviews at the time. I guess I just assumed there was a huge difference because people were saying that the graphics were so "disgustingly bad" they couldn't play the game any further. I didn't feel that was my experience. :)

Boy, you sure seem to be on a general angry rant here.
Suit yourself.

And you go on and live in this generation, and play new games all you like. While I sometimes look back to the golden classics that made me smile.

If you really can't enjoy something because it's old, then you remind me of those whiny kids that don't listen to rock, because it's OOOOOLD!

The truth is I have met a few people, yourself included, that enjoyed the game and thats great. You must be a truly dedicated RPG fan, but I however am not. The game seemed very lazy coming from the same studio who only a few months later released Mass Effect 2. If this game was made by a shit studio I would have gave it more credit but when the studio behind it made some fun and great looking titles there is no excuse for this games low visuals.

Well, considering HD and graphics are making things on the internet take up more bandwidth and therefore contributing to the argument against net neutrality I'd have to say HD is BS.
Edit: Not sure why people like it. I mean, good graphics are great and all, but they aren't everything.

Rock is considered a classic (or technically still exsists) because you can't improve Stairway to Heaven. It's perfect. However even though I had fun with the Meteroid Prime series it can be improved. It was by no means perfect. We have new technologies in graphics and gameplay.

If games didn't improve you wouldn't even have the Prime series you would only have the NES classic.

Not really that much of a fan of DA:O :) I just thought calling it graphicly terrible was weird. I am one of those few people who liked Mass Effect 2 even less. Far too many linear corridors, predictable battles and... well, the fact that you'd have no problem completing the game without levelling up once. I guess that makes me a dedicated RPG fan :)

Buuuuut, all of this is diverging from the topic somewhat, so I'll shut up now :)

Actually, I won't! How about Mass Effect for graphics damaging games :) It was more disruptive to the game experience watching the textures sloooowly load in as you ran through an area than bad graphics would've been. The will for good graphics and short loading times damaged that game :)

I kinda got pushed into the whole HD thing because for the life of me I could read the fucking menus in a good number of games and Dragon Age just looked like complete and utter shit. (Oh and my tv was breaking down) HD blows the shit out of standard definition. I'll watch my tv then go sit in front of a older tv and be like "Why is it so blurry and not colorful?"

Anyways you hear about graphics a lot because they add onto the experience that is gaming. But they are no means the most important things. Some people just decide to be stupid and treat them like they are really important. At least that's how I see it.

As far as television goes..... once you watch hockey (or any sport for that matter) in HD, you will never want to go back to SD again.

As for games, HD games are really what PC owners have been enjoying for years, and now it's finally possible on consoles. I don't care if my game has amazing graphics, but they certainly add to the immersion factor. Playing the first 10 minutes of Mass Effect 2 in SD would just not give you that same sense of scale.

One thing I HATE though, is why do most games no longer support 4 player split-screen, when the TV's we have are bigger than ever?
