While i was out and about with my 2 mates tonight, we were standing in the entrance to a park when an old lady on an electical buggy type thing asked us to move , sure no problem we moved and apologized for any inconvience, but she looked scared out of her skin when she asked us , she looked like she was expecting us to hurl abuse at her and to stab her on the spot , now after this event i got thinking and why are us teenagers so feared ? i can understand it if we all beat up old ladies on a regular basis but only a few of us are actually drunken ........ drunken, i can't find the right word to put there but TWATS springs to my mind. just post your thoughts

Because the media portrays all british teenagers as violent ASBO'd up thugs in hoodies, when in fact they are a minority- a high profile minority, however. It generates a climate of fear amongst people, especially when the news is full of stabbings and what-not by these "lumpen proletariat"-type teenagers.
Hell, even I get nervous walking past a group of hoodies, though I haven't been a teen for four years now. It doesn't help when they decide to shout abuse at me, mind you.
Bloody chavs.

With all the focus in the media on street violence I'm not surprised some people are scared of teens, and the truth is they are right too, in every community you have teen thugs that won't have a second thought about beating you or stabbing you, and they would probably laugh while they do it.

Adults are scared that the weird people born in our generation will one day rule the world, and a former emo kid or Soulja Boy fan will be in office.

They're damn right to be scared of us, we could kick their arses if we wanted to. They tell us our exams are getting easier because we're getting smarter and they can't take it; they tell us we're murderers because we're getting stronger and they can't handle it. Hell, they'll probably start focusing on the sudden appearance of hundreds of satanic cults if we start getting too spiritual.

They should fear our leet skills because we could (and probably will, eventually) own their faces off.

P.S.
Unfortunately, some people are just Dark Side aligned, and will throw violence at you without a second thought. It's a shame, but there we go.

Sadly, this. What I use as a jumper which doubles up as protection for my hair from the rain, Chavs use to hide their face when committing acts of violence. I hate it when people take a good thing and ruin it for everyone else.

But yeah, violent youths tarnish the reputation of the rest of us. Stereotyping with a side of chips.

The media often bother me in general. You learn to not believe everything your told. And resent those that do, but move on.

Anyone here seen the movie A Clockwork Orange? Cause I think that kind of sums up why people fear us teenagers. Me and my friends even dressed up like Alex DeLarge and his gang one Halloween. That made some adults move their children to the other side of the street, let me tell you.

Imagine that you were an old person with a locked subjective view of the world and how it "should be".

From your perspective everything is going downhill and to hell. More curse words are getting on television, more children are up to more crimes, kids don't say Sir or Madam anymore, and you are getting weaker and dying. Yeah, from her perspective shit is scarry.

Not meaning to sound rude, but it would be 'Why are we teenagers so feared?'

Outside of that. Most of ItaniKnight's post is the living, breathing example of the problem the older generations have against us. It's not at all uncommon, especially when you consider people are easily swayed creatures.

Hell, look at the media when a hurricane starts brewing. Then look at the people. People are excitable, older ones especially.

Also, bonus points for having Pendulum's logo as your avatar.
