Ah, no. It's the place you're free to not care about being judged.

I couldn't ever for the life of me get past the troll in the basement
I think you have to attack it with the sword you find in the house or you give it the packed lunch you find in the kitchen

OT: I'm not playing as I'm not in my Linux partition where it is installed... that and the map I nicked off the web has been lost/deleted/eaten by grue

Pick up sword.

I don't know what an "Up" is.

Get sword.

You don't have the sword!

Obtain sword.

I'm sorry I don't understand.
No, never liked text adventures. Even when you could wrestle them into doing what you want the puzzles used a kind of moon logic that make Gabriel Knight look positively sane.

I don't play it because I'm too dumb to complete it. And I also prefered the Enchanter/Sorcerer/Spellbreaker spinoffs that had some more depth and were a little more modern as far as text adventures come. The Zork series is very barebones in its puzzles and flavour text.

I prefer adventures with narrative puzzles instead of mechanical puzzles. The Zork series get very mechanical sometimes with mazes that needs to be navigated and Myst style contraptions.
