I hope you think of this if (heaven forbid) a couple of guys break into your home and you wake up just in time to hear the window break and to call the cops as they burst into your bedroom, hold a gun to your head, and tell you that they are going to make you watch as they rape your wife before they but a couple of hollowpoints into both of your heads... but luckily, you called the police because you heard the window break, and you see the red and blues flashing outside as they run out the back door... and I PROMISE you, you'll be grateful... because most people don't have the courage or guts to put their life on the line for the average citizen.
Or the military- because, no, right now, they aren't doing anything to protect us DIRECTLY... but without them, we are an open invitation for foreign occupation...
Some people never cease to amaze me.
I had to comment on this even though I said I'm done with this topic.

You are a ass, we should be lucky a cop would do their damn job. God I wish I had that attitude when I was life guard when kids call me a lame *** ***** who takes **** in his *** just because I said they couldn't swim in the deep end and they were drowning 3 minutes later in the deep end (Which by no means has the same level as being a cop, not by a long shot. But damn your attitude pisses me the hell off). If you have to have that mind set about people YOU SHOULDN'T BE A COP, because a lot of people hate cops. But I do know after reading that is this, your a ass, you need to learn some humility.

Look, im not saying police can do EVERYTHING in every situation... but the world would be a horrible-horrible place without them. No, im not saying the justice system is perfect... many criminals are never caught and the ones that are aren't always convicted..
And yes... 5 police officers out of a couple of million... well, I guess that's an overwhelming majority in your favor, eh? /sarcasm..
Oh, and p.s. I know a few more than FIVE cops, and none of them have 'god' complexes... but they do want respect for what they do... because you're a giant blue target with a badge... it's a dangerous job, police and military deserve respect

Those of below average intelligence are easily amazed.
Okay internet superhero... believe what you will.
I'm the Internet superhero here? Not the guy bragging about how cops save lives, implying that I should be grateful to him, and coming up with absurd scenarios? You want to talk Internet superhero, look at your first post and your later babbling about how I should be grateful to you.
I never said ME... I said you should be grateful to cops because you never know what the fuck could happen... and absurd scenario... if you think that scenario is absurd then you obviously have been living under a rock for your entire life... it happens everywhere, everyday.

You're a pretty biased subject to ask. You wouldn't notice a god complex because you've got one in the first place. You're demanding respect for a job that you get paid for. Furthermore, you brought it up when it didn't even matter. The fact you fling it around to defend the flaws in your personality just goes to show you expect more than you deserve for it. Because your job doesn't magically make your flaws go away.
Lol, no... demanding respect and saying that people who put their lives on the line to save others... DESERVE respect... two completely different things. Also, i'm not throwing this around to defend anything about my personality, again, i'm saying police and military deserve respect whereas you say they don't bc they get "paid"... you know what WHEN I GRADUATE COLLEGE AND BECOME A COP I WILL TAKE A 20k A YEAR PAY CUT... it's not about the money, it's about taking criminals off the street and making the world a better place for ungrateful pricks...

Because the guy you called a "musclebound thug" is a military man- yet another person who DESERVES your respect but you think otherwise.
Basically, you're saying that someone who goes and does something with their lives and tries to be successful by going and doing a job protecting others is a 'thug' because he thinks he is better than someone living at home in their mothers basement working at Wal-Mart and who is going nowhere with their life(paraphrasing)

Listen, i'm done with this argument because it is going nowhere... you believe what you believe and you keep taking my argument out of context... whatever.
But just to reiterate- I am in no way talking about ME PERSONALLY demanding respect... what I am saying is that police, military, fire dept, civil servants in general DESERVE the respect of others because they do their job to protect YOU.
Also, you keep taking my argument out of context to make it something that it isn't... i'm not even talking about the original subject matter anymore, what I am talking about is your TOTAL LACK OF RESPECT for people who do a job for the public.
But whatever- i'm done trying to convince you otherwise

I'm just going to go ahead and say it... What on Earth am I reading here?

I really don't know whether to take this seriously or assume I'm being trolled. Either way perhaps if you chilled out a bit and perhaps got to know the "Loser who works at Wal-Mart" you might possibly find out his secrets or something, don't know...
You took the words out of my... uh... fingers.
First thing I thought when I read this.

Well I have a question. Do you give respect to "nerds"? I mean, nerds have a lot of important tasks and jobs that make it so you can do your job. One job does not take priority over another.

Okay, now i'm actually done after this.
The way you keep taking this out of context is because you keep making this about me, personally. (I'm not going to go find exact quotes, but you know you're doing it)
As for someone who is "on the other side of the country" and how they don't deserve your respect because they aren't doing anything for YOU in particular. Well, you never know if that persons actions may have affected you in some way- Maybe he arrested a criminal would would of robbed/killed you if he ever came into your neighborhood (criminals do have vehicles and can even travel across state lines, WOW!) or maybe you travel to another city on vacation and your hotel starts to burn down and something falls and pins you and a firefighter runs in and saves your ass from burning alive... he is on the other side of the country RIGHT NOW but who knows when you two will be in close proximity in the future. So yes, even the ones half a country away deserve your respect.
Also, it's pretty petty to go after grammar... it just shows that you don't have much of an argument.

Deserves- not 'demands'
I'm not saying people should go around demanding respect because of a uniform, what I am saying is they deserve respect for what they do.
