I'm quite fond of Emily Haines, but I would be skeptical to say she's the best. Same goes for My Dear Disco's Michelle Chamuel.

Part of me wants to say Sakhile Moleshe for his work with Goldfish and another wants to say Bruce Dickinson.

But in the end I may have to agree with Stevie Wonder.

PHIL ANSELMOOOOOOOOO!

He can growl, he can screach, he can sing properly, and do it all with incredible style and huge amounts of bad-ass-ness. Great frontman.

Oh yeah, and Sam Cooke. That guys voice was out of this world.

Johnny Cash, Amy Lee, Chris Cornell, hell, Caitlin Glass has an awesome singing voice!

Also David Draimin's version of U2's "I Still Haven't Found what I'm Looking For" makes me cry (in a good way)!

Alissa White-Gluz from The Agonist, awesome death growl and she switches to beautiful clean vocals, almost word to word.

I've always liked James LaBrie from Dream Theater. He's got some incredible range.

I like(d) James and he has an incredible range, but he just doesn't use it often enough. Especially in recent years, his range has sort of plateaued and stagnated in one state. I'd like to see him use more highs and lows within a single song.

Like this:

But even DT and Symphony X have their inspiration:

I have something for Progressive Rock singers I guess:

Even some of the original pioneers:

And just for all around fun....

There's no voice like the voice of Tom Waits:

-snip-
Why do I like his? Well because im fucking sick of the concpet that a voice has to sound "clear" and "beautiful" in order to produce singing that sounds awesome.
hell yes! Tom Waits is amazing. some of my favorite singers actually have very bad voices (Tom Waits (of course), Bob Dylan, Nick Cave (more his older stuff, his voice has improved over the years), Amanda Palmer), but they can still sing amazingly, and tend to have songwriting abilities perfectly suited for their voices. all of the ones i just listed absolutely haunt me.

Rob Swire, obviously...

And also Matt Berninger from The National, his voice is soothing and easy on the ears.

Must be Michael Poulsen from Volbeat
Good call!

Anyway...

Corey Taylor- Slipknot/ Stone Sour (mostly Stone Sour stuff, his vocals with Slipknot are generally so-so. But on the lastest SS album he sounds great)

Miles Kennedy- Alter Bridge
Phil Lynott- Thin Lizzy
Ozzy Osbourne- Black Sabbath/Ozzy Osbourne (less the tone of his voice, more his ability to come up with fantastic vocal melodies on the spot)
Ronnie James Dio- Loads of stuff, may he rest in peace
Bob Marley- The Wailers
Brad Nowell- Sublime

Beth Gibbons, lead singer of Portishead. She defines the word "haunting". Now I have to put Third in my CD player.

Mike Patton all the way! The dude has range like you wouldn't believe.

I have no idea why Dan the Automator's part has been silenced. Sorry, I mean Nathaniel Merriweather

Videos don't do his vocals justice. I have seen him live twice (Peeping Tom and Faith No More) and they are so much more amazing than I even could have imagined.
