4 years ago ive just stopped having dreams i cant recall any of them all i see is a black screen in till my eyes open up again its very annoying. especially when everyone wants to talk about what they dreamt about last night and i always reply with 'I don't see anything but blackness'. i always thought that 'oh maybe i will remember bits and pieces' but so far i cant even remember a fragment of it [in a 4 year time space] tried everything having a journal which i write in so far is just filled with 'no dream'. Also no wet dreams WTF. Does anybody else have this issue or a good way to solve it.

[EDIT] Would going to a therapist help?

you have no soul !

seriously though, do you actually dream of blackness? cause that is creepy as hell.
now you know 95% of all dreams are forgotten anyway, tip to get you to remember, get someone to wake you whilest dreaming, there are ways to tell whne someone is dreaming.

You do still dream, you just can't remember them. The same thing happens with me. The last dream I properly remember was some creepy black and white carnival place when I was 6.

I'm sure it's something to do with what "part" of sleep you're in. Right now, you're sleep pattern has changed so that you are dreaming while in the super deep sleep stage when you are pretty much completely unconcious.

Most people dream while in the more "active" stage, where you are more likely to wake up if disturbed and your brain is still relativley active, so you remember dreams that happen at this time.

You're a heavy sleeper and sleep through your dream. The reason people remember their dreams usually is if they had a restless night of sleep.

Yeah, I'm guessing you just don't remember it. I usually don't remember my dreams either, but today I think I dreamt something about meeting a friend of mine who was for some reason working in a salsa-stand where they sold licorice.

It's called Sleep Amnesia I think.

You can't not dream. You just can't remember them.

I tend to forget everything in the first 5 minutes upon waking up. I actually have a list of dreams that I wrote down before forgetting that I have no recollection of ever having.

Some of them scare me...

Hit the nail on the head right there. You can't not dream during regular sleep (not sure about sedation, though).

Nah you just can't remember anymore. I had the same problem a while back. Here's my advice:

1. Learn how to tell the difference between lucid dreaming and reality. This can be done by spotting something abnormal in a dream or by building a habit in normal life which when used in the dream will give an abnormal response. Such as looking at a clock twice. If your in reality it will be the same but if you are in a dream the hands will change.

2. Write down anything you do remember right as you wake up. It will help build your recall ability's.

It takes time and try not to force it.

I'd like to have an answer to this aswell.
I almost never remember dreams.
Sometimes I even wake up in front of the fridge, by the toilet, in front of a door, in the bathtub (of course I went to sleep in my bed, I don't drink alcohol).
The last dream that I can recall is one in which I died FIVE times after seeing a roadsign driving on water and Santa jumping from a low wall speaking indistinctly, after which his body exploded and his viscera flew everywhere.
If I'm going to have more dreams like that, then fuck it I don't want to dream anymore.

Everyone dream, but not everyone remembers.

I have had no memorable dreams, for a long time, not even nightmares.
I sleep, like baby made out of rocks, though.

This, more or less.

AcApparently you actually dream almost constantly but only remember very little of what goes on, you mostly remember during REM sleep (which lead to the false conclusion that REM sleep is dream sleep).
