GTA:IV is an example. In my mind, I know it's a really good game. It does so many things well, I like the world and I find it complex and interesting, but, for the life of me, I just cannot enjoy it. There's just enough little things combined that get in the way of it being fun, but I can easily see why somebody would love the game. Just not me, for some reason.
Maybe having too much content can be a bad thing. I like GTA4, but I doubt I'll ever finish it. The story's just too long.
GTA IV? Too much content? You sir make me laugh.

Call Of Duty: World At War. I played it for a few months, but at one point, it was no fun. Zombies was not worth it with out the DLC, and no one played Ground War. I can not go back at this point, though I have tried.
The new Zombie maps were great, just wish one of my mates still had the game, its not fun with me and one other guy (Our team of 3 was EPIC).
I'm not a sir :)
What's the combat in Dragon Age like? Judging by game-play videos, it looks like MMO point-and-click style, which... well, sucks.

Developers, please stop putting MMO combat into single player games. Just because it's an RPG doesn't mean fights have to be boring. There can be a healthy balance between the character's stats and the player's skill. Just look at The Witcher.
It pretty much is, from the Videos it looked like you could do some pretty sweet combos and the like. But when you do that with ranged combat...I want to be able to aim and hit every shot, not miss because the computer does it for the lulz.
Wait, it pretty much is which? MMO, or well balanced?
MMO/Kotorish.
:(

Truth be told, I didn't think it looked very interesting in the first place, so I could care less.

I think you're onto something. Long stories are usually a major draw for me, but I think the problem is that it lacked structure and cohesion; I was never really sure what I was supposed to be accomplishing by doing missions, other than getting money and meeting more zany characters to ring me up. Even though there was an ultimate goal and a story, almost none of the game seemed to connect to it, unlike, say, San Andreas where you always knew what your goal in each stage of the game was.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Wii was a big one for me. I'd played the two for the N64 before this one, and at some parts of the game it was fun. However, it just felt like I was doing the exact same thing as in the last two games and nobody had any personality (which is also a problem I find with many 1st person shooters.)

I rented Saints Row around the time when I was playing GTA San Andreas and I felt that though it was a good game, it felt like I was just playing GTA - only played it twice.

The Last Remnant was also a game I am glad I rented to find out it sucked in the first five minutes of playing. The fact that you don't control any of the fighting really destroyed any desire to play it ever again - plus the main character was a total douchebag.

So you just went ahead and did the main story missions, none of he side missions, bonus missions, explore the world to unlock stuff OR the Multiplayer, then you traded it in for a game with a cheap fighting system?
nah i still did about half the side quests, well.. the fun ones anyway, the hunting was just mmo grinding... blah.. racing was fun.. rest where just smal skirmish stuff... i play real rts's like C&C and starcraft, BL's pseudo rts action thing just didn't appeal to me, it was neither a good action game or an rts... adn the exploring+ i have all those songs on my itunes, and the land scape was cool, but after i saw it all i lost interest... tekken 6 is a bit of a generic fighter but its good for killing an hour or two between classes, personally i prefer blazblue, but tekken is good for just mindless fun

I think that pretty much sums it up. The first few missions are pretty fun/interesting, because there's actually a reason to do them. Niko's trying to work off Roman's debt, and, after pissing off the wrong people a little later on, he's trying not to get himself and Roman killed. But...
once you kill Faustin the story just seems to lose focus. You have to wonder why Niko doesn't focus his attention on killing Dimitri instead of doing odd jobs for the local scum-bags. After all, by that point you and Roman don't need money that bad anymore.

Star Wars: KotoR
Bioshock
Half Life 2
L4D 2
Lost Planet
Battlefield: Bad Company
DMC4

Basically it seems that I've gotten to the point where if the game isn't both fairly new AND heavily story based I can't keep myself interesting. I had no issue with Dragon Age, NWN2, The Witcher, Mass Effect, and what few RPGs there are for Xbox (Jade Empire!) but KotoR just didn't draw me in. I can't really explain it.

I rented Turok in hopes of killing time since my comp is acting up. I've played it for a couple hours and frankly... I hate it. I hate it so much. The controls are awful and stiff, I've died 50 times by now in the first few levels thanks to the OMGWTFHAX AI. The minimalistic hud is irritating and I've wandered in circles more than a few times because there's no direction indicator/map of any kind. I want to like it... I want to play through it... But it's far too flawed. :<

KotOR 2 - The asteroid,the part where I dont play as my persona,the 1/2ass story,the asteroid

Mass Effect - 10min to drive the RC car over the planet and to run over Geth and then back to Seth Green and my billion dollar space ship, landing somewhere and being harassed by the locals.

Dragon Age Origins - I always felt "Grey Warden can you help us..." "Grey Warden can you kill the demon" I was never really getting anywhere as a Hero...more like the nanny of the realm...Leliana was a good chat and Potato was pretty kick ass.

F.E.A.R. 2 - being jumped by ghosts etc etc etc

Farcry 2 - WHY AM I NOT JACK GODDAMN CARVER!

This happened with LittleBigPlanet and Killzone 2. The former was a charming and fun platformer, but for some reason I just didn't wanna keep playing it. And Killzone 2... ugh don't get me started on Killzone 2.
I was actually thinking about buying KillZone 2 because I have a lack of good FPS games for my PS3. Do you mind if I get you started on why it's so "ugh"?
Well first of all the game did start out badass, it was one of the most immersive FPS's I have ever played. But it just got worse because the movement is so god damn sluggish. The other thing that really ruined the game for me was just trying to memorize the controls because I kept confusing one button for another, but that may be just me. What I hated most was that there was so much god damn gunfire and every time I aimed at an enemy my shots were so damn inaccurate because all the guns have way too mcuh spray and it's hard to tell whether you are whitting your targer or not. The final straw came on this level where you and your allies find a turret and then you have to defend your position against waves of Helghast. Fuck no matter how many I gunned down I kept dying because you are exposed on that turrey. Basically it became a chore to just try and keep playing through the campaing so I quit. The online multiplayer wasn't so great for me at all. It was also ruined by the sluggish movement and cheap spawn points. To be hones the use of bots was kind of fun but I didn't want to keep the game.

That does sound pretty Ugh. I hate games with cheap spawns that give you inaccurate weapons and order you to gun down someone on the other side of the map, while they can see and hit you with perfect accuracy. The only game to ever do spawns right was Goldeneye I guess. That's kind of a shame too, especially after all the hype about KZ2

Most realistic shooters. I really just don't care. COD4 was cool, but a rental was all I needed. I'll rent MW2 one day and play through.

Borderlands. Simply not what was promised and was damn linear for an apparent RPG.
There's your problem - it was a shooter with RPG elements, namely leveling and skill trees (and never attempted to disguise that fact). If you went in expecting an RPG that happened to have a few guns, you're going to get dissapointed.

I got dissapointed with and ended up turning off Peggle Extreme - the constant Half Life 2 images kept reminding me of how bored I was playing Half Life 2.
Hm. This is true.
