The biggest problem with Vegas is the character and weapon designs. They're shit.Flailing Escapist said:Just to be clear, I love Bethseda games. I've played through Morrowind, Fallout: 3 and Oblivion several times but I just can't seem to get into New Vegas. Why is that? I did almost every single mission, sidequest, and dlc in Fallout 3, and really loved them. I thought Fallout 3 had all the familiarity of Oblivion (mostly the controls, gameplay, and npc interaction) while still being original and unique.
So why is New Vegas different? I've had it for a couple of months and I haven't gotten very far in it. I like the beginning, you know, where you get shot in the head and the game introduces you to new and returning gameplay and you have to protect town-whatever-its-called or not. Also note that I really like they way they play the whole factions like/dislike into the game. Anyway I've only gotten far enough in the game to to exact my vengence on the dick that tried to kill me and Yes Man wants me to go talk to some people or something.
I've only been playing for a couple hours so I'm pretty sure I'm not near the end or anything, I'm only a level 10 too; but the game has sort of lost its luster for me. Is this just me or has anybody else run into this situation themselves?
Edit: Oh yeah and as somebody pointed out -> the difficulty is another thing. I started off on normal, because thats normal, and I was killed by all sorts of things right out of the gate. so I turned it down to very, beary, blue berry easy and I think it was just as hard as normal; everything still fucking kills me. And its not like I'm still a NooB to Fallout: In General either. I know what I'm doing but I'm still getting my shit kicked. But thats not enough to keep me from playing tho, the absence of the general feeling of insertion does that well enough.

If you're high level and don't get completely mobbed and have a really good framerate, yeah. Unfortunately, not all of those factors work in your favor. Especially since, in Hardcore mode in particular, there's a bug (it may have been patched) that GUARANTEES that if a companion gets stung by a Cazador, they WILL die.MaxPowers666 said:Im not really sure what to say mabey your just not into the game. They changed a lot of things from fallout 3 and the game has a very different feel and play style. The only advise I can give you is keep on at it. Start exploring more, doing side quests, companion quests, etc. You will find some really crazy things out in the Mojave.
I think the biggest problem most people have with it is that its not fallout 3 and if you try to play it like it is your going to have problems.
You mean those bugs that go splat with one shotgun shell or sniper bullet?Bek359 said:*cough* Fucking Cazadors *cough*Chamale said:Some of the animals in New Vegas are really buggy and unfun to fight
The wasps? what? how the balls did you snipe that thing!? were you 3 feet away in vats mode or something, cause i sure as hell didn't once land a sneak attack on them with anything short of a grenade launcher. also which shotgun are you using? the early ones don't do 200 damage a pop and even if they did, they had 1 or 2 shells a clip, so how did you deal with the other 3 cazadore that spotted you from several miles away?MaxPowers666 said:You mean those bugs that go splat with one shotgun shell or sniper bullet?
I remember that crap. Actually, i tried giving my ally an antivenom and it seemed to work, even though they didn't use it lol. Maybe it just a coincidence and somthing else saved her.Bek359 said:If you're high level and don't get completely mobbed and have a really good framerate, yeah. Ok, before you go ahead and do that, once you finish the story that's game over.khaimera said:I just started playing it and I'm having fun with it. I just got to new vegas. I'm going to finish the story and then do side missions. Yeah its the same as fallout 3, but i do like that I can play it without only using vats.
Is that a bad idea?

when you say this all i can think about is the land mines. Sweet jesus their is nothing i hated more in that game.RedEyesBlackGamer said:I liked New Vegas a LOT more because it was more narrative-driven, faction system>morality system, and the difficulty. I felt like an ordinary man. I had to keep on my toes. You could be ambushed and killed at anytime. It drives home the point of a dangerous post-apocalyptic wasteland.
