All the way across the thread!

You just have to go into NV with the right mindset, a more comedic one. There's a lot of funny stuff that happens in the game, some that isn't supposed to even happen. I've played 50 hours so I don't plan on playing again, but it was worth it.
best thing I saw that was unintentional, the kids who go chasing the rat that gets killed and they start eating it, my friends xbox glitched and one of the kids went sliding off into the sunset on his knees stuffing his face with nothingness.

You get killed thousands time on normal?
Are you serious?
If yes then I would suggest focus more on stealth kills instead of direct confrontation.
As for the obligatory mockery
I finished the whole game wearing no armor at all(just wore a hat and a robe) without dying more than 10 times.
The only things that are annoying are cadazors but they were taken care of easily by a direct head shot while sneaking.

Weird. I loved the hell out of it and I got bored out of my teeth with Fallout 3.
Normally I'm the negative one. This is unusual.

I love the dynamic of the different factions mostly, and the fact that my character doesn't seem to be a walking god on hardcore mode.
I remember getting chased by Raiders early in the game, limping behind some cover after 5 minutes of running, ready to go out in a blaze of glory...
WHAM
KAI-SAR'S Legion storms in and murders the lot of them, tip their hats and leave.

It was awesome. The fact they saved me from the Raiders early on made the choices later harder then they should have been...

Fallout 3 just felt railroaded. You could struggle a bit, rock the boat.
But you had to be a nice guy and join the super friendly Brotherhood of Steel. Paladins of the people!
PURGE THE ENCLAVE!
I mean, sure, I would have done that anyway...but the option would have been nice.
Free will and all that.

Plus, it may be petty....but I like aiming down the sight.
It really made the game 20% cooler, all on its own.

I think it has a bit of a problem that you don't really feel any sort of connection or concern for your character. Sure someone's shot you in the face but tbh a load of people got shot in the face in Fallout 3 and I don't really care about them.

If they put in a sort of mystery behind who you are etc it might spur you to find out, but they don't really it kind of all gets explained to you straight away.

I loved fallout vegas and I played it alot but I just felt like I was kind of dumped into this character who I couldn't have given a crap about. The Dead Money DLC gave some hints of someone from your old life who was looking for you so let's hope a future DLC gives us a bit of context.

Just roam around, find a few side missions (most are better than the main story missions), and immerse yourself in the Mojave Wasteland.
If that fails, create a new character and become the biggest dickhead in the world, side with the legion and kill everybody else.
It's certainly morbid, but entertaining.
Being the bad guy in New Vegas is a LOT of fun.

Holy shit this. I wasn't satisfied with the evil options with Fallout 3 and New Vegas totally delivers in that regard. My person favorite evil sidequests is the Legion version of the monorail quest.

One time I was doing the quest 'You'll know it when it happens' and found the guy who was trying to kill the president. I killed the man and was immediately killed by everyone else. Next time I did it, the entire crowd was in their underwear and cowering as the president did his speech. Uncanny, but funny as shit.

Because in fallout 3 the best (in terms of class) place to live was tenpenny tower and unless you exploited a glitch you had to do some bad things to get there but in NV you just waltz right in to vegas. Thats what put me off.

Its also that in F3 every settlement was completely differnt whereas in NV its Legion, NCR, Independent, Destroyed, Under attack and that never changed.

I started up a new game today, mostly to see if the new patch was up. It wasn't. I left Dr Mitchell's house and went to do that "training" mission with Sunny Smiles. But she bugged out and wouldn't move after the Sunset Sarsaparilla target practice. I'm gonna hold off.

I'm sort of looking forward to this playthrough though. I'm going for mostly persuasive skills (Science, Speech, Barter) and am gonna try to be an evil guy who manipulates people.

Personally, I liked New Vegas better than 3. I felt more motivated to hunt down the son of b*tch who shot me than i was to find my father, i mean seriously after spending all those years getting bullied by the tunnel snakes I was very content taking everything in Megaton before i nuked it. After that i just kinda stumble onto the main quests

I had the opposite problem, I could never get into Fallout 3 and yet I LOVE NV. I think it's just the small differences in the 2 games that can make or break it for some of us.

I just started playing it and I'm having fun with it. I just got to new vegas. I'm going to finish the story and then do side missions. Yeah its the same as fallout 3, but i do like that I can play it without only using vats.

Is that a bad idea?
Ok, before you go ahead and do that, once you finish the story that's game over.

I would suggest getting to the point where it gives you a prompt telling you that if you proceed you can't go back, saving there, and then finish the story. Then go back and load that save and explore.
Thanks for the advice. I'm going to do that with the save point.

As of now (without knowing the story) it seems pretty lame that its game over after the story, again.

Fallout 3 was a good game, but it was a shitty Fallout game. New Vegas is a great Fallout game, and a good game.
I agree!

I did have fun with Fallout 3, but it had very little to do with Fallout 1 and 2. The only things that were the same were some of the factions.
I love New Vegas and I'm probably going to start playing it again during the summer.

Also: One of the things that annoyed me in Fallout 3 were the companions. It was really annoying that you had to enter dialogue every time! I just think that New Vegas had improved on a lot of things that were in Fallout 3.
