They shouldn't even be getting into the hobby in the first place if they haven't got enough disposable income in the first place.
Yes because disposable income = piles of cash, apparently. And here I thought my ability to buy some stuff I don't require for sustenance qualified. I've got one laptop that can run what I need it to and I've got it because I need it for Uni, I am truly sorry I can't buy a TV and a console - I bring shame to the gamer race so, I'll go hand in my gamer card right now. And I'll return all the games I have, because you, random person on the internet, showed me the way and how I don't belong in this hobby.
It entirely depends on your situation as a person, and what you priorities your money on. If you don't have a TV then how can i say to you personally you must grab a console now! I'm saying these things to people who have money to be able to buy all these things, and have obviously a TV (or access to a TV), to definitely consider buying a console.
Gaming wherever you like it or not is an expensive hobby, and people who barely scrape by shouldn't really be getting into it. As i said, it could lead to pawning system and games just to scrape by, only to rebuy it and sell it again, in a vicious circle. It would apply to other things such as buying Warhammer figures. I would say it would be more worth buying food if you have to choose between the two mind you.
You spent money on going to Uni, and obviously education is more important to you than a bunch of games. It's obvious that's where you priorities lie, and I respect that in disregard to all of my somewhat pretentious glory.
and yes...please hand me your games, and your Steam Account details in a PM thank you, i'll very much appreciate it, as you have revoked your license as a gamer, and not willing to comply you will be forced to play Action 52 for the rest of your life, strapped to a sofa that has cockroaches.
