I'm sorry to have to be the one to point this out, but it only seems crappy to us because we're, for the most part, old enough to be watching something else. You have to understand CN's standpoint here; They have to appeal to a demographic, specifically the pre-to-early teen set. To grab that demographic, they have to go with what appeals to them, and only them. In other words, we aren't CN's target audience anymore. Maybe back in the day, when CN was still considered enough of a niche, specialty channel to run quality animation exclusively, we were, but the fact is, CN's not a specialty channel anymore. Because cartoons can now be seen almost everywhere, it's become less a cartoon channel, and more a generic "kids" channel. From a business standpoint, it's the only way they'll keep their head above water when going head-to-head with Disney and Nickelodeon.

This is partially why Boomerang came into existence. While CN is off paying the bills by appealing to small children with half-hour bursts of frantic stupidity, hyperactive children and commercials coated in a half-pound of sugar, Boomerang is the go-to guy for sticking to CN's original message, airing real cartoons nonstop.
good analysis. funny too

Samurai Jack Forever!!! That and Dexter's Lab were my favorites. This same thing happened to Nick so I guess we shouldn't be surprised.

The original Pokemon anime was a huge part of my childhood.
I remember back when I used to get up at 7 AM sharp each morning just so i could watch it. Ah, the memories...
Sadly, it all went downhill after season 2, and I stopped watching TV at all for a while (because it was the only thing I watched).
Now I just download anime in the original Japanese because I never cared much for American cartoons.

I've been watching Cartoonnetwork for years. Actually, I stopped watching a few years back- but my sister turned it on today and I realized that the whole channel is on big collection of ADD morons now. That Dried Dynomite crap is every thing that make Tim and Eric Awsome Show Great Job cool, and ruins it. What ever happened to being the only channel that you'll never see a live peson on. I miss the days of Cartoon Cartoons. What ever happened to the good old shows and why are they replaced with this crap. These guys aren't Disney. If they're not pimping their crappy character for money, then why are they turning themselves into crap distributors like Disney and the new Nick. What ever happened?

What do you think?
I think the fact that you called "Tim and Eric Awful Show, Good God!" a "cool" show, shows that you really shouldn't be talking about this. Not that I disagree with your sentiment that CN and AS should die in a fire. But Tim and Eric are, without question, the two biggest idiots on the face of the planet and it's the moronic humor (if you can call it humor) that they shovel onto the screen that AS and it's viewers love so much that's causing the network to lose it's more tasteful viewers. And you can't really say anything good about their regular stuff either.

I used to blame Family Guy for this. But since Family Guy can actually be funny sometimes, it leaves me to wonder why they would group it in with all that other garbage like Futurama, Moral Orel, Squidbillies, Mission Hill, Tom Goes to the Mayor and so on and so forth.

I remember when they first started Adult Swim. Just Space Ghost, Harvey Birdman, Sealab, ATHF and Cowboy Bebop. That's when it was enjoyable. Oh yah, and Home Movies. Which was and still is crap. But when that came on I just put on something else.
I only said cool because I was at a loss for words to describe it.

Nostalgia is the only reason you liked those shows.

Spongebob is actually a lot more funny now that I've gotten older.

I like Nickelodeon.

Shudup.
I'll vouch for that. Partially, anyway. Caught an episode of Kenan and Kel the other night, didn't seem nearly as great as I remembered it.

Lol. Their humor is "before it's time". Perhaps years. Upon years.

Cartoon Network used to be awesome. I don't completely remember, but I think it might've started going down hill after they removed... ahh, I don't even remember the anime... The one with the samurai who use his sword backwords... they removed it after they cussed onced during primtetime, me thinks. I loved that show, but never got to see the end. There's a reason kids like to watch a ton of anime now...

American cartoons suck now; it's like they all have to teach some kind of retarded lesson that should come as common sense. I've lost complete faith in almost all of TV as a whole, though. Only good channels are Comedy Central, G4(kinda), and a few bits of other shows. AS on cartoon Network, The Soup on E!...

Society sucks now. Pop culture is the worst kind as of yet. I really hope the next generation will learn a thing or two about competence or something...
I think the show you're thinking of is Rouroni Kenshin? That was a good show.

Anyway, to add to your list, TNT is alright for Law And Order.
Thank you, that's it... I really gotta torrent that and finish that damn series... That and Yu Yu Hakasho... The fights were fun, and I never got to finish it either -_-

I miss the old shows like Tom and Jerry and (even though these were Nick) Angry Beavers and Animaniacs. Now it's all crap, all the time. It makes me truely sad now.
well Nick isn't doing too bad. I'm sure if I were a kid I'd enjoy stuff like Danny Phantom and spongebob. I know as an adult I still like Fairly Odd Parents and Avatar. Disney is marketing more towards pre-teens than anything else, so I can't really relate there as that's a very specific grouping.

CN, however, seems to have taken their early success with AS and spread it through their other shows, making everything on the channel retarded crap. sure, AS has a couple shows worth watching, but even most of that is re-hashed rip-offs of Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Sealab. I've seen a few of the shows on daytime CN and they're all god-aweful sins against cartoonyness. I still can't believe they play(ed?) Saved By The Bell!

I'm with others, I'm hoarding all the actually GOOD shows from the last 50 years or so on DVD Box sets and I'll give those to my kids to watch. *impatiently awaits Angry Beavers box set*

Yep, even the cartoons have gone to hell.

I remember the good stuff like Johnny Bravo, Dexter's Laboratory, Courage the Cowardly Dog...
Now it's just like Yahtzee said "Kids are into anime these days so let's all dress like twats and jump on the ceiling" (or something)

Oh yeah, the upside is CN created the greatest cartoon ever, SAMURAI JACK.
Samurai Jack fucking rules! :D
Those 4 shows pretty much sum up my childhood. All these shows they have now are about some idiot character walking around and going "AHHHRRAAHHHAAHA" a few times an episode to distract you from whatever the shit plot of the day happens to be...

cartoon network was OK. i vaugely remember cow&chicken, dexters lab, powerpuff girls, stuff like that. gone now. even the occasional bits of looney toons seem to have only received the odd hours of the day. you know, when no children would be watching.

but worse, even our beloved adult swim has gone downhill. wheres the cowboy beebop and the sealab2021? replaced with astroboy and the show with the really long name.

Disney isn't just aiming their materials to pre-teens. Their pimping it out like the biggest bitches high school musical and hannah montana could be. and Zach and cody are evil. or it can give you brain aids. one of the two.

Actually Cartoon network seems to be in an upswing lately.
The old stuff was still probably better, allthough that could be the nostalgia talking, but The misadventures of Flapjack, The Mr. Men Show, and Chowder are all good. Adult swim at least has anime to compensate for "3 hours of things we found funny when we were high at 3 AM"
