WEll... I have all that crap... translated in romanian... (which means most of the wordplay the smart cartoons had is gone) so it is way worse. Not to mention that all the voice actors are the same 3 people in different tones of voice. It really really sucks.

I've always been surprised how long shows have been running, i see my younger brother watching rugrats and nick arnold and im amazed there still going, im hardly the peole of the old generation but today's tv shows suck compared to the old ones... though i do find some childishness from them which i cant help but enjoy...

also i am amazed pokemon is still running do they still make new episodes?

disney died when thats so raven Lizzie maguire and all there proper shows ended and they had to fill it full of crap... i liked the old zack and cody's though, when i say like i mean i didnt hate it as much as there other bull

i still love tom and jerry and loney tunes though

hmm the shoes kids like today huh? though i laugh at my mom and her bugpuss shows, cute as the cat was of course

I saw The Lion King yesterday.

I think children's programming has far exceeded the point of no return.

It's like ZeroMachine said, that new live action stuff is what sells. I'm not complementing it, I hate it too. Cartoon Network looked at the high-selling stuff on Disney, and decided to become that. I'm not sure if they got really greedy, or if they did it in fear that those kind of shows were replacing them.

I avoid it like the plague during all days except the hours of 12-5 AM on Saturday, since that is when the GOOD stuff is on. I accidentally fell asleep with it on one Saturday, woke up on Sunday to this show called Total Drama Island.

Do you know what that is?

Its a fucking reality show...FOR CARTOONS!

Not only was it just as nasty as normal reality game shows, but it peaked WAY above that when they forced one toon-chick to drink a soda out of an OUTHOUSE TOILET.

What the HELL are we letting networks show our kids?! I am only 17 and I worry about my future children. In fact, I worry about anyone's children! Children from bad parents that let their kids watch TV all day long were dipwads back in the day, now they are just little shits.

Seriously, I was hanging out with my friend outside his house. A mother of a bunch of these aforementioned 'shits' lives across the street from my friend, whom him and I lovingly nicknamed "The Box" because of her...less than streamlined physique, plus that pesky little fact that we hate her guts. One of them, a little girl of around 6-10 (not sure, acts 2) runs up to me, brandishes her little kid-claws, latches onto my right arm with them, and, before I can knock her off, she TEARS them down from my elbow to my wrist, leaving several 8 inch long gashes in my forearm. I yelped, arm bleeding, and chased her back to whence she came. But what could I do? I cant punch a 6 year old girl in the face, no matter how much I wanted to...

I still have a slightly visible scar from that frikkin kid.

Well look on the bright side people...

If you haven't noticed already these kids shows become more violent day by day.

I used to watch Toonami all the time when I was little. Then they moved it to the weekends, then they killed it. And now the only good cartoon on is the occasional Courage the Cowerdly Dog. All the other good ones;
Ed, Edd, n Eddy
Dexter's Lab
Johnny Bravo
Tom and Jerry
Samurai Jack
all the best shows I have ever seen, now dead.

but what really killed me was when they stoped airing June Bugs. A whole month of Bugs Bunny, gone. My summers have never been the same. I do remember when they showed the marathon of the Powerpuff Girls, reminded me of the old days.

Toonami they killed slowly...

Cartoon Network died to me when they stoped airing June Bugs. It was on life support with a few others... but those eventually died and now CN is dead to me. I still record Courage the Cowerdly Dog. Its all I have left now.

Anyone remember Dragon Ball Z from Toonami? That and the old Pokemon episodes were the only anime shows I could stand watching.

The new shows, Flapjack and Chowder are the most retarded shows I have ever seen. Flapjack is less retarded since it has the voice of the Ghost Pirate from Spongebob, but thats all it has.

Though you do make a good point that the time conforms to the era, what culture has witnessed is the force feeding of stupidity. Cartoon Network did not spur the growth of corporation grown teen idols, channels such as Disney did and cartoon network ended up being a casualty of their hold on the media.

Though I do admit that I did not enjoy the classics such as bugs bunny and others, I did enjoy a time in which the growth of inspiration had resulted in Toonami, Williams Street and Samurai Jack. All that remains now is the shadow of its former self, a hollowed husk with only one true trophy of the past, Adult Swim, which I'm proud to say that it retained most of its original valor.

Now the truth of the matter is that cartoon network being that it was just a victim can reform to the classic feel and purpose. Revive Tom and Toonami, bring back the luster of animation, AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WOULD SOMEONE BRING BACK SAMURAI JACK. (and Megas XLR, it only lived for a short while, but a robot with nukes and missiles piloted by two guys from new jersey along with a chick from the future is just priceless)

I loved Megas XLR, but that's gone too... it was funny because teens and young adults could recognize some of the more mature references in the show

That show was awsome. I miss it, it used to be on on weekends, but its gone now, like everything else that was fun to watch.

Do our children really like the crap that is on now?

Well cartoon network used to be marketed toward early teens and it even appealed to higher and lower ages. now its just a bunch of hyperactive 6 year olds. I miss: Time Squad, Samurai Jack, Cartoon cartoon fridays, whatever happened t robot jones?, Dexters Laboratory, 2 stupid dogs and EVERYTHING ELSE. WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING CARTOON NETWORK?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Wahh, wahh, people don't play what I watched as a kid anymore, so I think they should crawl in a hole and die! Seriously, that's what you sound like. It lends nothing to your own argument and only makes me sad to think about it. Yes, it's horrible that they don't play things that were popular when you were a kid. No, it wouldn't profit them to show it still as their audience is young, as opposed to you.

....

Oh, and Tim and Eric suck too.
I assume from you're comments that you are a pre-teen or teen. I also assume that you are under the impression that some of the crap that's on TV these days is good. As such, I will disregard you as an idiot.

As much as I would like to do that, though, I'm 19. As such, I can only regard a pre-teen/teen as immature. I'd have to be at least 50 to regard you as an idiot based on the previously mentioned criteria.
Lovely. I'm actually 26 years old and a graduate student in the world of film and TV. You also assume wrong in that I think what is on is good to me. Or you. Never said that. But it is cute that a teenager can assume what I am thinking.

If you would have assumed correctly, you would have been able to figure out that executives of networks go after the demographic that most helps their network. Cartoon Network is from about 6 years of age to 17. Even you are out of that. The ADD generations that have come up recently have been targetted by the networks with shows more than those that would pay off for someone that likes plot. But even those are still in there if you look closely. I caught a few episodes of Courage on this past week. The Batman cartoon, while nothing compared to the animated series, is still at least lightly entertaining.

Look at things past face value and please say it with me.

You are not their target demographic anymore. They could give a damn less about you. As long as people keep procreating, people will have children that they wish babysat by cartoons. And as long as it can wave something shiny and keep a kid's attention whilst melting their brain, they will keep doing so. And that is what the network wants. Not someone that will complain about every little show that they had when they were a kid.
