Why couldn't Lara get a jacket or coat from her fallen enemies?

Well I can't help but see all the "programming" issues. It would take hardly any time to program, just switch this model, to a different model. The real work is on the animators. Just sayin'.
That said, it's cause it would probably ruin the flow of the game, and then the modelers and animators have to animate it.
Honestly, it's more of a matter of switching the same motion capture data to the new model. Which isn't remotely difficult.

There's a jacket skin in the dlc. That's probably the major reason.

So the only way to not be sexist is to avoid sex appeal all together? That's ridiculous.
There's a big difference between sexy and sexualization. Giving impractical outfits to female characters for no other reason than so men can stare at the boobies falls into the category of the latter.

Does she have the jacket on for most of the game, though? Or is it some dress up DLC?

Because you touch yourself at night... while thinking of her snug tank top.

Seriously, she's Lara Croft, and Lara Croft simply wears blue tank tops. Also, by showing her bare arms we're constantly reminded of the physical wear and tear she's going through.

The next Tomb Raider should probably have Lara wear a sumo suit, so as to never again reveal her offensive womanly body parts.
Same with Kratos; Cover those horrible pecks, you awful man.

Is there? "Sexy" has zero practical purpose outside of attracting the opposite sex.

Lara's cloths are perfectly plain. It's the fact she looks in them the way she does that makes internet justice warriors uncomfortable and want to cover it all up.

Funny that this has become what is "plain" to gamers. What I see is a lot of skin showing in a place that looks awful cold. If it was bright and sunny then sure, tank top makes sense. No sense made here. She would probably want a jacket.

And it makes me very, very sad that your only concept of "sexy" is to attract the opposite sex. Expressing sexuality is a complex act with many motivations, and part of the essence of being a sexual human being. Forcing sexualness upon a character for no other reason than to make men stare is a depressing reduction of sexuality to body parts and carefully measured amounts of male saliva. It's insulting to all genders.

She gets a jacket if buy DLC, you cheap bastards are the reason she doesn't have a jacket. So stop blaming her and go buy dlc now! Unless you got it for free, then I really don't know what your excuses are...sadists.

You're probably going to catch some heat for that one DX

Some people dress "sexy" because they just want to look cute/good/etc. For a lot of women it's more a self image thing than it is about attracting mates.

That's an executive design choice placed into the game's Design Document.

"Criteria 11: The tits must be visible or at least identifiable from any distance."
And for this I thank them, lol

I love those "oh I gotta fit in this tight spot" side shots where you just see boobs sticking out, its great for my male mind.

The rest of the game is great as well, plays great, looks great and its very fun. I don't mind a little extra T and A for my gaming pleasure :)

I was hoping this would be a plot-hole thread.

OT: Because DLC. No other reason, it wasn't sexism or programming, it was just DLC.

I thought the same exact thing. You don't walk around like that in the wilderness. Your soft, thin skin would get scraped off completely with all the crazy shit she goes through, not sure why she wouldn't tear off some animal skin and make a leather jacket or something. they were trying to go for a more realistic Lara and well... sure they did that on many levels but in the end, still eye candy.

She'd need a whole wardrobe, something for every environment then. Might as well ask why she doesn't die from every bullet wound.

No. It's what people tell themselves. "I'm sexy for myself." All that elaborate nonsense stems from the same source. You raise your self worth by knowing you are attractive to the opposite sex, etc, etc.

sexualization >> sexy. You won't get one without the other. Granted not everything sexy is physical.

There is nothing wrong with it when it's done within reason.

You mean, again?

Anyway, given Lara's activities, I'd be surprised if her own clothes wouldn't get someone else's blood on them.

The question of the thread was "why doesn't she grab a coat from one of the dead dudes."

And by "sexual expression" I don't mean "want to look good." That's a massive simplification. I'm not here to conduct spiritual sex ed, though. I just suggest you look into the concept of sexuality more and discover what it really means. It makes sex a whoooooole lot better.

But trust me, as a woman, we dress the way we dress for many reasons, and few of these reasons are "for the pleasure of men." Don't flatter yourself.

Kinda weird really.
To stay alive in a survival situation I'd skin a corpse and wear it as a coat.
And now I have this image of Buffalo Bill and Lara doing that for warmth.

Put the lotion in the basket...

At this point she's probably covered in the stuff, so fair game, right?

I guess at this point it just depends on if it's a bitchin' jacket.
