How is the gear on the AH optained?

By getting it normally. So everything in the game isn't coerce people into buying. It coerce people into getting it. By the same means it always has. Get more loot. To say the game coerces people into using the RMAH is just as asinine insisting that D2 coerced people into using trainers.

How does this just drift by everyone who complains about the RMAH?

IF IT HASN'T BEEN OBTAINED NORMALLY IT CANT BE PUT ON THE AH!

That people are fucking idiots and end up paying me money so they can have their epeen slightly larger. Thank god for them. In them meantime Ill be playing when it is fun, and stopping when its not.
I never said that good gear doesn't drop at all. What I said was that usable gear is such a pain in the ass because of the RMAH. The gear hunt when looked at as time vs reward is insane. Yeah you have a percent of a percent of a percent of a chance to get an item to drop that's not total and complete vendor trash.

So yeah, it does have to be obtained through normal play but the time you have to commit to normal play to get anything worth not vendoring at your earliest opportunity is being artificially extended so that it makes buying it on the AH/RMAH seem like a more appealing option.

Hell Bashiok even admitted that the AH/RMAH was a factor in balancing loot drops when he said " With far more players and an increased proliferation of item trade, we have to factor in how many items are being found by players and how quickly a player can gear up by 'sourcing' items from others through trade and the convenience of the auction house". If the AH/RMAH wasn't there that would be one less thing they'd have to consider when figuring drop rates.

The fact of the matter is the AH/RMAH doesn't exist in a void. It is a part of the game and any game you play will be affected by it regardless if you use it or not.
