Most of the people in this post have already came to the same conclusion that their own perceptions of life are generally what determines their own outlook. It's like crying over spilled milk, if that milk was the only thing you could buy to eat for the week than it's worth crying about. Generally people only live 10% of their lives to some extent we could be doing a lot more and feeling better about doing it.

for me, there's two sides to this...

on one hand, I can't STAND the whining pussies ("oh NOOOO, I live in an upper-middle class white suburban neighborhood! I have loving parents and three square meals! NO ONE UNDERSTANDS ME, I'M GOING TO WRITE SOME POETRY ABOUT KILLING MYSELF.") that populate highschool, Hot Topic, and the internet.

on the other hand, I ALSO can't STAND the assholish finger-waggers. like, I might ***** about how school is chapping my ass or something, and they come in one their high horse like a white frigging knight all, "THERE ARE STARVING PEOPLE IN AFRICA, BE GLAD THAT YOU CAN EVEN GO TO SCHOOL, YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO COMPLAIN, BLAH BLAH BLAH". oh, well EXCUUUUUUUSE ME, PRINCESS, I was unaware that, because SOMEONE SOMEWHERE has it worse than me, I was prohibited from ever being unhappy about ANYTHING EVER.

so yeah, on one extreme, you have the whining pussies who cry into their overpriced duster coats about how no one pays any attention to them. on the other extreme, you have self-rightious jackholes who think that preaching to everyone about how bad other people have it will make them look good.

I'm more in the middle, I can't stand unwarrented whining for attention, but I also can't stand the dicks who think that pointing out how other people have it worse for you will shame you and make themselves seem like a frigging paragon of human decency in comparison.

I have a friend who is exactly like this. The best solution is to simply ignore his or her whining and show them just how insignificant their complaints are.

I think it's one of those faulty human traits to believe that your situation is a billion times worse than anything ever, and no one else has ever experienced this horribleness that you feel.

People need to learn to take responsibility for their own actions and their situation in life. Whining about it does you no good.

Cowboy up and make things better for yourself, no body else has that responsibility for you.

I hate when people complain about how bad their lives are and yet it's something that is minor. Like when something that hardly even matters happens to someone and they almost get suicidal over it and complain about how bad it is or how bad the place they live in is or how bad the country is.
Your problems are always more important than others' problems, regardless of what they are. We could both have our identical iPhones destroyed with no chance for a free replacement, but you will tell me to "get over it" while completely freaking out about yours. It's human nature.

I would, but I don't think a "man" would would want to kill himself in the first place.
Because being male prevents you from being depressed?
I put "" around "man" because I was implying that being a "man" would entail you being Clint Eastwood, Darth Vader or Chuck Norris or something.
When I put "" I was implying that the "man" I was identifing as beyond a normal human being and thus, yes, undepresible

I've come to the conclusion that it's somewhat modern for people to say that life sucks... I mean surely, it does at times (not to offend anyone, of course), but the problem is that people tend to forget about the little stuff. Have no friends? Go make some! Grab a beer and wait for the sunrise. Plant flowers, watch clouds, go to a bar, get drunk and start a fight - the little things! People are afraid nowadays - from themselves. And they have chains that confind them and don't let themselves out in the light - I think that's the problem.

Well, as someone who complains about their life often, I do have periods of guilt when I think of people who have it much worse than I could even imagine.
In a means to make it ok to me though, I just figure, a paper cut or a missing arm, both deserve medical aid...just the paper cut only needs a band-aid.
