Zero Punctuation told me about the site, and after hearing about it from a few other sources, I began to lurk for about half a year. Then, I got an account and stayed largely inactive. I still don't post very much because I tend to avoid most forums, unless attached to a video or article.

So why did you first start going on the Escapist and why did you create your account.
In my case I got hooked on zero punctuation and started lurking on the forums. At one point I just decided to make an account.
Exactly this reason right here. Yahtzee is the man and he inadvertently convinced to join the escapist.

I was introduced to Zero Punctuation, and stayed for the forums. Eventually I discovered the rest of the series.

Daystar posted a comment that infuriated me to the point of swearing revenge against a person I will never meet. Something about Okami being better than Chrono Trigger or something can't really remember, but I immediately swore to end him through passive aggressive assaults against his psyche.

I saw this place when at a friend's house, it looked cool so I joined and haven't regretted it.

My buddy showed me Zero Punctuation on Youtube ages and ages ago. And i kept hearing about the escapist magazine, so i googled it, created an account after a few years of lurking... and yeah, i'm not horribly active and rather invisible i think...

Came for the Yahtzee, stayed for the rest of the content.

Also, I've never seen a forum filled with such mature people. Kinda makes me feel out of place...

Well I used to lurk and hop on here to watch zero punctuation although what finally made me create an account was a thread about vehicles in games (mainly discussion about the mako in mass effect and Halos worthog). I just wanted to speak with fellow game players.

To pick up chicks, obviously...<.<

But seriously... I found this site a long time ago, when it was still a PDF... didn;t really make an account until after I actually visited it regularly, around the time Yahtzee showed up...<.<

I think Shamus brought me here, or I followed one of his links from DM of the Rings here, saw some Yahtzee stuff, and decided to stick around

Going along with the rest of the crowd on ZP, a friend of mine showed me the Metal Gear Solid 4 & I was hooked. But I didn't actually create an account until after I attended Expo this year & thought I should really get to know the Escapist community better.

There was this discussion on AIDS, and I pointed out how one guy sounded like a Maximum Ride villain. Pretty lame, all things considered.

I think I signed up for an account to partake in a march madness.

Yahtzee brought me, UR kept me.

I discovered the Escapist through Unskippable. I joined because at the time I found a few threads I wanted to add my 2 cents to.

And here I thought that I was going to have an original story. -__-

I found Zero Punctuation on Youtube way back when, and discovered that this was the website that he worked for. So, I watched all of his videos and periodically returned for updates. After about... 3 years, I think, I noticed that there were other video series and forums that sounded interesting. I lurked around for a few months, and eventually made an account.

Fun times!

I lurked for maybe two years, then I joined when the Escapist came with Genre wars because I was fairly bored at the time and I figured why not.

That's pretty much it. I didn't have much interest in the forums at the time.

"Sexy"? Why thank you. That almost makes me not wish unpleasantries against you. But flattery will get you no where. Also check out this cool concept art that supposed to be for the Okamiden sequel on the 3DS.

Lurked the site from 2007 to 2009, coming with the flood of traffic that a certain Australian with an awesome hat brought. Made the account to comment on videos but ended up discovering the forums. Made some great friends in Off Topic, found Forum Games and bam. There's where my 3 years have been.

Time that could have been spent elsewhere for sure but I don't regret having fun. :)
