I don't know many girls that complain about being fat. Myabe it's the circle of friends I have. Society as a whole doesn't help, models that are rake thin, sometimes borderline anorexic and just don't look healthy. On that note, good on you Big City Chic for modelling clothing for plus sized girls. Too many girls also take to heart media diarrhea and what fashion magazines dub beautiful. There is no positive encouragement for these women, just cruel critisism.

I must be an exception because in the few times I've ever 'thought' I was fat, I never really moped about it for long, I went outside and did some frigging walking a day. And I know I had a bit of an eating problem when I was depressed.

But now Puberty's finally out the window I don't do it anymore, In fact I eat less now when I'm depressed, thought of food makes me ill.

Jo Brand (UK comedian and fat woman) made a damn good point, not hugely funny, but very fair, (and no doubt this will be called homophobic now), that the big problem with the fashion industry is that there's so many gay men in it, designing clothes that they'd like to see on the figures of teenage boys, which is why you rarely see any models that have any feminine curves.

So from a very male perspective, tits and arse are mainly fat, but you're just never going to hear a man go, 'I love you honey, but your tits are too big, can you get on a diet?'

Also, to step away from the sexist bit for a moment, if we've fallen for a girl, we've fallen for her, and of course looks are a big part of initial attraction, but 10lbs either way isn't gonna change you from the object of our desires to swamp monster, so go have a cupcake on me!

Because everyday, we have 'GET THE PERFECT BIKINI BODY FOR SUMMER!' in every paper/magazine, pictured with some tall, slim flat stomached woman in a bikini. Any girl will think, 'I don't have a body like that, I feel so fat.'
They don't realise that girls have different bodies and if you don't have a flat stomach, you're fat.

When Jessica Simpson gained weight, the media started calling her fat, porky etc. She was a size 14, I'm a size 16, the average size for women in Britain is 16. That doesn't make us feel good.
Girls will never see how beautiful they actually are, despite how many Gok Wan shows they watch >.<
For the record, I am actually fat but I don't eat much and I don't go near fast food.
But I'm happy, probably happier than all my slim friends, so I can't really say size matters.

The exact same thing happens at my high school, the girls will gather around the boys and say "omg i weigh so much" etc.

I'm just assuming that they do it because they're insecure and feel like they need guys to compliment them and say "you're not fat, you're great" and that kind of thing.

In fact I met this guy who was a fat prick outside a club a few months ago and he kept pestering the girls I was with, saying that he thought he was fat and just really badly wanting attention. You have 2 types of women. Those who care about their appearance and those that don't. Since the culture we live in pressures women into almost unachievable stereo-type women often compare themselves to the extremes our society presents and try to meet them. Hence they develop confidence issues in themselves, seeing themselves as imperfect. Is one of the many side effects of our culture.

Yes.. I'm a girl, I think I'm a bit on the chubbier side of life. But it does upset me to see people skinnier than me to go get lipo or something.

I've got the wrong body shape anyways to be able to get down to size 6, not that I'd want to, so I get a little upset at times when something looks great on a model and then in my size I can't even get the bloody things past my thighs.

But don't guys prefer curvier girls?

Women are a terrible and weird bunch. It's the answer to everything. It is also the reason why there wouldn't be less wars in the world if women ruled it.

Because in our teens, we are desperately searching for acceptance and a sense of belonging.
The alpha dogs in school decide what's "right" and what's "wrong". Today, the "wrong" is being ugly or fat.

It's a little thing called Peer Pressure. It is also a thing between girls. Never in my life have I thought so much about my appearance as when I was hanging out with only girls, in fact, I care a whole lot less when I'm hanging with guys. Their standards are different.

And when I was little, girls could be mean about that sort of thing. When I was ten, I once got a call from one of my so-called "friends", where she told me it might be time for me to start using make-up. Then she mocked me a bit for not being allowed to.

But no seriously, not all girls think they're fat. That's bullshit. But I think there's a lot more pressure on girls to be thin than guys. If there's a chubby guy, people are like "aww but he's cute", if there's a chubby girl everyone calls her fat

No we prefer girls that are attractive to us (sometimes curvy, sometimes blond, sometimes cute, sometimes smart). It's really up to the guy you are asking. What we find attractive can also change.

You'll notice notice most girls ask if they look fat, that's because they live in crippling self-doubt and need to be told they look pretty/skinny. Some girls say they look fat so the person within ear shot will deny it and call them pretty/skinny... Do you see where this is going? Next time you hear a girl say she is fat reconfirm her notion and tell her to lay off the fucking food.
