Wow I hate to be "that commenter" but really? This has annoyed you so much and for so long that you have had to make a post on the internet demanding America explains itself? Really?
Because when you get into a shower every morning you have to spend all of a second readjusting a shower head...
Do you also complain when untying your shoelaces and one of the strings goes through the loop and you have to take apart the whole knot the hard way?
Or perhaps you write a stern letter to Nokia when your phone keypad unlocks in your pocket?

I do find it hilarious that it's most likely an act of kindness, the first blast of water in the pipes is going to be cold and so it's best to have it aimed at the wall. The yanks are preventing the next shower user from being uncomfortable.

Doubly hilarious is that you keep leaving it back in the "prone(?)" Tposition and pissing them off with your cold water blasts. Do you think they get together and ***** about you?
The discomfort of the "first blast" can easily be avoided by not standing underneath the water. Anyway, these people aren't considerate enough to think about the next person who uses the bathroom; they also flood the tile floor after showers, piss on the floor, and neglect to flush properly. The not flushing part I can sympathise with, as it is my understanding that American toilets waste gratuitous amounts of water in a single flush cycle. Perhaps this is also a metaphorical representation of American culture in general.

Is leaving clumps of soggy toilet paper in various spots on the bathroom floor also considered part of your great American tradition?

I don't know, I've never heard of this happening before. Of course I don't really know any Americans either.
