Fanboys more than like a series, they attack anyone that openly dislikes what they like. They're a breed of cultists spawned from the digital age, the age of the internet, where with a few simple 'googles' one can find like dorks serving the same cause of stupidity.
To be a fervent fan of something is one matter, but to be a fervent fan that insists that if you don't like what they do and if you say anything negative about it, you and your family should be burned to ash, mashed into a compost pile, and used to fertilize the grazing grounds of whatever animal will defecate the most upon your scattered remains is something else entirely.
Fanboys are the ultimate punchline to the worst joke ever. Case in point; Shigeru Miyamoto once said that Americans will buy anything (referring to games) that looks pretty, no matter how bad it is. Rabid American fanboys will to this day call him "Miyamoto-sama" (and even that's incorrect) whenever his name is mentioned in an article, despite his history of openly disparaging their nationality.
Anyone remember when Squaresoft thought some of their titles were too hard or too complicated for westerners to even be capable of playing? Apparently Final Fantasy fanboys don't, because if you ever say anything to a cosplayer wearing a long white wig and wielding an over-sized "I'm clearly not compensating for my manhood" sword about how SquareEnix is a craptacular company these days then best of luck on your surviving an escape from that room.
Incidentally, I've loved playing games by Miyamoto and Squeenix, even if they hate us westerners as a species. I don't love them or their companies, but some of their products are clever and very enjoyable.
