It seems to me that fanboys and fangirls who like a certain game that they know is flawed and yet defend it against all opposition sans any degree of logic associate other people's criticism of that game as a direct attack against them personally. This is because they associate some aspect of the game with an aspect of themselves. Also, I think spending money on games in this economy makes it important to choose your games carefully, so some people would rather pretend a game has no faults in order to justify their spending money rather than honestly analyzing it (something that perhaps should've been done before purchase).

Why do fanboys defend their favorite console or game company with such fervor?

Why do fanboys attack other people's consoles?

Why do fanboys attack anyone who has a criticism of a game, company, or console without even considering the validity of the criticism?

Why do fanboys protect the status quo against positive criticism, improvement, progress, and feedback?

Why do fanboys insulate their object of affection from any objective examination?

Why do fanboys act against their own self interest?

Why do fanboys even exist?

Fanboys are often the ultimate suckers, they are at the front lines of console wars, they promote propaganda and make excuses for their favorite company, they defend companies against criticism that could improve the industry, and who benefits at the end? Whatever corporation they are representing as unpaid goons.
OMG you've discovered that fanboys are annoying! To the presses! Surely, this will be hailed as the greatest leap forward in knowledge for mankind of the decade!

because fanboys cant cope with the fact that other people hate what they play on or with because they have a different viewpoint and cant accept gay but fun games

why do people make pointless threads like this that have been made many times before?
Because they find themselves dealing with fanboys and it makes them want to post a thread like this? Or maybe because they want to see what feedback they get? Or maybe because it's on their mind? Maybe to make a statement at the end, like the one I made about fanboys often being suckers who act as an unpaid goons?

Anyway it's no more pointless than your post.

Because if an entire army of 10,000 fanboys banded together, their total IQ would be 10,000.
My school is worst for 360 vs. PS3 wars, the only thing both of the factions agree on is that the Wii can go die in a corner apparently, go figure.

To be honest, everyone is a fanboy/fangirl to a degree. Afterall, everyone has a gaming company and/or genre they perfer and will be more lenient towards compared to others. The only difference is that some try to be as unbiased as possible in spite of it, while others fully go along with it.

As big a fangirl as I am about video games and anime, I don't like crazy fan boys and girls who violently defend thier fandoms with all the zeal of an extremist. They... kinda scare me.

Why? BECAUSE XBAWKS/PSTHREE/WEE IS THE BEST!!!

No... Not really... I don't know any Wii fanboys... All the Wii owners I know just have a small white box they keep around and wave at... They don't claim wonderful things... They just use it...

You know... Like how all consoles should be? Used as entertainment?

Wow, fanboys exist cause some things are liked by people, alot. You are likely a fanboy or girl of something, even if you deny it. I am a huge fangirl of The Elder Scroll games, but I am not rabid. You confuse fandom with rabidly blind fandom. Its the ones who cant hear bad of what they like without going mad who are bad. You can say bad of TES, but I wont just say you are stupid. I may even agree.

I think we should also ask ourselves these questions as well:

"Who would defend something that is awesomely cool, and how much would you defend it?"

"Do we rag too much on things that are blatantly main-stream, simply because we want to be 'indie' or 'non-conformist'?"

"Is a fan-boy just another type of extremist?"

Aren't these all rhetorical questions?
Nope, I want to see what people think. Really.
Okay then, here's my theory: there is no inherent difference between fanboys and a regular fan of a particular movie or game, except for one thing: fanboys have no impulse control when it comes to their object of affection. I'm sorry if this offends, but reading some of the stuff posted by fanboys- the innaccurate statements, the hate-filled flames, the short, one sentence posts consisting mostly of 'LOL! ROFL!' or "STFU, n00b!'- indicates to me someone who reads something and then, based solely on their knee-jerk reaction, posts their immediate feelings without actually thinking or acknowledging criticisms where they may be valid.

Anyways, that's my theory. If anyone feels I'm wrong, I welcome your comments.

That pretty much sums it up. Thank you for that. Now let's talk about something interesting.

I tried to be a Ninendo Fanboy at one point, but it's quite impossible. They suck too much at the moment.
