you basically get somebody to compliment you silly to boost your self-esteem because in fact you're just being narcissistic and the only reason you love her... or even like her... is because she likes spending time with you and that makes you feel good about yourself. Being around her is like somebody continuously saying "you're at least bearable", but in the end you're just enjoying being with somebody and not specifically her.
