Is this a crash where you would just reboot or a corrupt save of some sort?

What was wrong with the save system in GTA IV?
The regular save system didn't bother me too much, though it wasn't ideal. The problem was the total lack of mid-mission checkpoints (lucky most missions were easy), so that if you failed and wanted to retry, you had to reload a save, drive to the mission start and do the whole thing again. You could restart from the beginning of the mission, but for inexplicable reasons, you had no armour, and the same ammo you had when you died. That pisses me off. Getting killed and redoing it, fine. It wouldn't even be so bad if you could just start again with a clean slate, but the game punishes you.

It's an okay game, but it's just so linear - they cut it pretty much everything that I love about FF games. I used to enjoy being challenged by the enemies and having to use tactics to be able to win, on the new one you just grind and spam auto-battle and that gets you through 99% of the battles (I've yet to try some of the harder hunts though, but I imagine it'll probably be the same)
You got them mixed up.

Old FF games could be grinded through. Hell, you can win some of the "supposed to lose" fights if you grind enough. FF13 caps you out based on story progress.

FF13 may use auto-battle, but it's far from out of your control. You have to watch about a dozen different things at once on the HUD (chain gauges is always a fallin'!), switch paradigms every few seconds as needed.

It's just a different type of control. Besides, you can still give commands as wished. Auto-battle loved using Thundaga, even though 3 Thunders would total more damage against a single target with the same number of ATB bars.
I don't grind in games unless I absolutely have to, I find it far too boring and detracts from the story, in all the old FF games I rarely have to spend a lot of time levelling aside what happens naturally as I play, but instead just rely on tactics. The new one, although it's possible to do that, you rarely need to. I dislike how you hardly have to have any input in the battle (unlike XII where you use the gambits to tell them what to do in auto-battle giving you much more control)

The only thing I ever had to do in FFXIII was simply switch paradigms and maybe cast a few buffs myself but that was about it and I just felt so detached from the game, it's just not the same when every fight is won in exactly the same way.

You should see me in 9.

If they could learn it, I taught it to 'em...

Took ages.

I ***** about the lack of the Mako in ME2...and the fact that they introduce an ammo system in ME2...but I still like the game. Mass Effect 2 may be more cover-based shooter than the original but I love them both.

Heh I did that in 9 too, I wouldn't upgrade their weapons/armour until they'd learnt everything from it. For the first third of the game, I'd usually be struggling to find more things for them to learn, then it would just explode as I got tons more equipment - that was one of my favourite systems (I do remember one game though where I found it fun to grind Garnet constantly at the start so she could use summons at the beginning of the game, but I wouldn't do that in my first playthrough though as it makes it too unbalanced - hence why I only grind if I have to, or at the end/other playthroughs)

I am one of those Fable fans and I have a right to give criticism of a series I care about. And the first was the best.

Also I love TimeSplitters, but hate that they haven't made the fourth one yet :|

I love my favourite games. I find nothing wrong with FFXII, God of War series, Uncharted 2, MGs4, Resistance series, Killzone 2 and Infamous. They wouldn't be my favourite if I bitched about them.

because when people love something, they see the flaws in it so much more clearly than otherwise.

My favorite game is FFX. It's downside.. voice acting. But you know.. this was the day before voice acting picked up in North America.. so I'll forgive it.. barely.

COD games. Fuck I hate the community, it attracts such a wide range of people, just about everyone plays it, i.e a ton of 5 year olds and the only people that actually talk on the game are people constantly arguing about how much better they are compared to each other(and trolls). The quite obvious unbalancing of everything like some guns are just completely over powered and therefore over used. Perks, killstreaks, enjoyable, but overpowered.

Yet i still bought Black Ops, contributed 10 dollars to my brother buying MW2 and playing COD 4 at mates houses(never got up to the other COD's).

Not sure if the point of this thread was to actually rant and explain what game you complain about, but meh, it's so true.

I'm a PC player, btw.

EDIT: I've played 103 hrs of Black Ops >.>
Call of Duty 'fans' are the worst. You don't think that the COD games deserve to make that much money? Here's an idea, stop fucking buying them.

(i know im a loser) The game has flaws but to complain Bethesda doesn't particularly care his character crashed after 459 hours 4 YEARS after the games release seems a little needy! I feel a similar way about Fable Fans they always say FableX was better but... in FableY ... it didn't have... etc. So the question is why do people hate their favorite games and what games do you love but constantly complain about?
Did he not have multiple saves or anything? Kind of his fault in that case. Having just one save is a bad idea, especially in a Bethesda game. My Oblivion character is close to 200 hours but I have almost 300 saves regarding him.

People complain about thier favorite games because they know they can be even better with a few things fixed.

As for me, well, we all know which series I like to complain about:

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.187182-Modern-Warfare-2-why-it-makes-people-angry-Read-if-youve-ever-played-the-game?page=1
And the only way to prevent any of those things is to be a prick yourself. Hence why I enjoy that game.

OT: I complain a lot about L4D, but only when it selects me to be tank. I just don't like playing as him, he's to unwieldy and hard to use. I wish I could just fucking pass him off to someone else.

Yep. I went on last night for a while and decided to One Man Army Noob Tube in Ground War. It was fun.

It's pretty simple. See, I don't care at all about Fable 3. I don't own it, never will. But if I played it, I'd be more bored than angry at its problems, because I don't care about its problems.

Now, if you take a game I really, really adore like Fallout 3, then I care about the problems. If you like a game you are emotionally invested enough to get angry about its flaws, whereas if you dislike a game from the start an annoying interface isn't going to make you angry as you won't be using it. In fact, liking a game will make the flaws stand out to you all the more.

It's why I'll still play CoD somtimes, but be listing off my many, many problems. It's because I like some parts of the game and I liked CoD4 enough that I care about making the game a better experience.
