I'd say those are the main categories. I owned one for about a year by the way, played it for 5/6 months.

I've played single games that give me more value than that.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and something like 3:1 on the games:extra-peripherals-required ratio.
Are you suggesting that the other consoles are immune to poorly implemented controls, sub-par games, and terrible graphics? Believe me- they are not.

I think that the only games that live beyond 5/6 months of continuous play are tournament games (Smash Brothers, Halo, the like) and MMOs, so you quite possibly have played single games with more time value than that. But to assume all games will last you that long is, quite frankly, fantasy.
No I am not suggesting other consoles are immune to it. They just don't have a solid trail of it throughout their entire history. Don't talk to me like I'm an idiot thanks, it's called opinion, and I'm hardly pulling it out of my arse hole.

I was mainly referring to Oblivion and the like (so none of the games or genres you listed). And for you to assume I said or even implied that all games would last that long is, quite frankly, fantasy.

Just to throw it out there I'm mainly a PC gamer, I dabble with my 360 from time to time and, like I said, I owned a Wii for about a year.
You're saying the Wii sucks because there are a lot of bad games on it... and you claim to be a PC gamer? That's a tad hypocritical: the PC has the largest amount of crap of any game-playing device. By your previous logic, the PC should be the worst platform, not the Wii.

And I apologize if I seemed condescending. The Internet can do that to you, I suppose.

No.

The PC gets a very large number of AAA titles that it shares with the 360 (mostly) and the PS3 (some of the time). It also endures a number of shitty ports which mostly consist of strangely down-graded movie tie-ins (Iron Man anyone?). The PC also has it's fair share of exclusives with the likes of the RTS Total War games, Crysis and Warhead (soon to go multi-platform), a lot of stuff from Valve and so on.

Then we have games such as Audiosurf (brilliant) from Indie developers, which are far more prevalent than on the consoles. Naturally, with such a vast intake of games (possibly the most out of all the platforms) the PC will receive a large amount of shovelware. But, as you've already pointed out, so do the 360 and PS3 as well.

The Wii, unlike the PC, 360 and PS3, has a very limited selection of games with any merit. In fact you could probably count them without the use of all your fingers.

Your accusation of the PC being 'worse' because it has more shovelware (which is hard to actually find out if it does anyway) is irrelevant. The amount of shovelware vs. the range of AAA to good titles on the PC is far better then that of the Wii. You've only got to go into a Game and look at the walls side by side to see that.

There are very many great titles for the Wii. Certainly more than the amount of fingers on my hands.

Age has much to do with that ratio. The Wii is only three. The PC has been around for decades. Once developers start to pick up steam (and they have), more and more great titles will come out. Take a look at the PS2: the same thing happened. Now it's regarded as one of the greatest consoles ever.

And I didn't accuse the PC of being worse: I merely said by your logic of saying that a system with a solid line of crap throughout its entire history makes the Wii bad, that it would make the PC bad too. Belive me all the gaming consoles are great. I just find your ramification for calling the Wii crap a little flimsy.

Well what game did you play lately on the wii that was good and entertaining?
And to which games that actually have an realistic release date are you looking forward to?
On the other consoles i have at least eery 2 months a good game to look forward to, on the wii its more like two good games a year.
I already played super mario bros wii at the gamescom with two friends and a mess hostess, it wasnt that spectacular though. It was fun of course and nothing special. And that in the multiplayer,so my hopes arent that high for the multiplayer.
So my main problem is,that it is a console, that has hardly any games that wake my interest.
I´d still prefer a Ps over a Wii with titles like Jak,Ratchet,Sly, Gran Turismo and so on (just two show that im not all about blood and gore )

Because the Wii is well known for it's awful games. The first-party games are rather good, but other than that it's pretty dismal.

Somehow I get the feeling that the innovation people were looking for meant something other than forcing the player to wave his or her arms around like a fucking idiot.

But im not gonna rant about the wii. I just don't feel like buying it, because of the arm-flailing action Nintendo is using as their sales-pitch.

So far, button-mashing hasn't affected how fun a game is to play for me so I can't really see how the arm-flailing is going to revolutionize my experience in gaming.

But like I said: there's no reason to rant about it. Let the wii players flail their arms as much as they like, and stick to button-mashing if that's what you prefer, and everyone will be a lot happier. Don't you agree? : )

Because people bought the console and expected it to have games they liked, just like the other consoles they bought which released games they liked. They were wrong this time.

The Wii went after a completely different demographic so many traditional gamers were left in the cold with a console and only a handful of games they'd want to play. Some traditional gamers were able to like the casual games the Wii provided...but unfortunately that wasn't the case for many.

The problem with the Wii has nothing to do with the hardware, but the way Nintendo markets and licenses the platform. Only first-party games(i.e from Nintendo) and casual party games are making money on the Wii. Third-party developers, who provide the bulk of content to traditional gamers have been ostracized, leaving traditional gamers with nothing to play. All the consoles have shovelware, it's just that the Wii has exceedingly few redeeming games to justify the purchase.

Well to others it may not be crap which I can appreciate (we won't all like the same things after all), but from my experiences with it it's the worst of this generation.

Leave it at that? I think we might break the quote button if we use it any more. xD

Okay. The games do not appeal to you. That is a respectable opinion. I can agree to that.

People who flame the Wii are people that have nothing better to do in their lives. They are opinionated people who if someone doesn't go by their way they trash it. They are just mad that somebody spent their money on something different. Seriously people just because somebody did something different doesn't mean their idiots! Your actually the idiot for letting it get to you. The Wii is only another option in the world that changes the way of your life. Don't go by what other people say, think for yourself!!! I got my Wii because my friends had it. Also I had no clue who to do regular gaming on a 360 or PS3. So now that I played this I'm ready for a PS3. That's the ultimate use of the Wii. To get people into the gaming way. And that's the truth!

Report them? Nay, it's much more fun to draw them out and watch them make asses of themselves.

And I agree, but remember, everything has to be about them when it comes to Nintendo. They've brought out more franchise titles and new IPs this generation than any other, but they bring out Wii Sports, music and fit and all of a sudden it's the fucking apocalypse.

I compare it to a child who resents their parents because they're not getting their full, undivided attention. Proof of this is Natal and the constant bitching we're hearing concerning that.

What we want is for this innovation to be put to some actual use (hard core titles).

The only reason I would not like motion control is if it cannot be put to good use to create hard core games (shaking you rist in Mario Galaxy doesn't count). If the lack of hard core titles is the result of lack of demand and not any inherent problem with the wii-mote itself I would then have a problem with the consumers and not with the wii itself.
You said hard core titles far too many times. Tell me, what is a hard core title? A game with violence? Good Story? Good Gameplay? There are plenty of games that have that on the Wii, but that term is bullshit. There are no hard core games, just games.

Just because CoD 4 has a knifing feature, doesn't mean it's a hard core game.

I like the friend codes more than random request. I get nearly 4 everyday on Xbox Live and it gets annoying. Sure, it's annoying, but I'll endure it.
I think FCs would be far more endurable if:
A) You only needed one to play on all games
abd B) If you could exchange them in game.
I like that Idea.
Part A can't happen though, because not every game will use the same online servers. Nintendo has their own servers, and so does EA, Activision, and SEGA. Capcom will probably have its own servers too, once Monster Hunter Tri gets over here. Long story short, it's impossible to coordinate a general friend code among all those different servers.

Although if Nintendo just made a general friend code for all of their first-party games, that would be pretty nice.

super mario 64 was the first and maybe best game i ever played. however galaxy was terrible and certaintly worse than anything on the 360. i have an old working n64 and would not trade it for the wii. in fact i would rather have a gamecube than own a wii. owning a wii is like having a bumper sticker that says. "i'm obssesed with defending crappy games, and i would rather do that then play good ones, and you are actually physically defending it with this thread, you therefore being the worst offender of them all
