Why do so many guys here suck at talking to or doing pretty much anything with girls?

I've seen a few threads with people who find it impossible to talk to girl, people who are afraid of girls, people who see girls as completely foreign and some incredibly disturbing opinions about girls in general ("Are women jealous of men" thread).

So, why is is? Now before you announce your abilities, keep in mind that I don't care how badly afraid you are or how long it's been since you felt the touch of a woman and I especially don't care if you actually can talk to girls or have a relationship or have had sex. Telling me your exploits doesn't help determine WHY people here are so bad.

Hey, some of us do just fine I'll have you know.
I think it's probably because people who spend their time talking to strangers on the internet are more likely to be socially awkward.

I must say I am one of that small majority of men who has no problem talking to girls. Many of my friends, both online and offline, are women and I find it no harder to talk to them than any of my male friends. I play games with women, I go out to town with women, I talk to women on a daily basis. As far as I'm concerned, everyone is just a person and I don't treat them any differently regardless of their gender.

Because you know who we are?

[HEADING=1]WE ARE NERDS. Or geeks, at least.[/HEADING]

One of the drawbacks is being socially awkward.

You didn't read his entire wall of text, did you. He explained why he tought women were jealous on men...

No, I don't find it in any way, shape or form hard to communicate with girls, tho I will admit sometimes I really got no idea what they are talking about. I also loath anyone who is between the ages of 12 and 16. Just throwing it out there.

Umm, how about the fact that we are all a bunch of gamers? That's probably a pretty good reason.
No, there are SOOO many people who can play video games and still have average (or even good) social skills. It's not a result of video games, it's something else.

I'd answer you but I'm too busy having sex to post in an online forum.

I've learned by observation that guys that aren't good talking to girls don't have sisters, like me, and viceversa...

No it isn't.
I'm a gamer, and I've never had an issue talking with girls.
Social ineptitude has nothing to do with being a gamer or not.

That actually kind of makes sense.
I have two sisters, both older, and never had girl talking issues.
Although...my best friend also never had girl talking issues (He was far more a ladies man then I ever was) and he didn't have any sisters...though he had a lot of cousins close by who were girls...maybe that counts? I don't know.
Sort of makes sense on the surface, though.

I had a girlfriend for over two and a half years, for your information, and it wasn't that long ago.

However, as far as social contact goes, I fail to see why it is so necessary. The majority of people are douche bags, and while it's nice to find good ones, I don't count on it.

My usual social ineptitude, however, is a combination of ADHD, Aspergers Syndrome and being a misanthrope.

It's not girls: It's people in general. Beyond that I could care less; I just see different genders/races/whatever as an arbitrary mix of genes and either a match of XX or XY chromosomes; even deeper than that, humans are all basically molecular, biological machines. The problems arise with people's minds in various ways.

Yeah I did read the entire thing, wrote my own wall of text in that thread explaining how horribly insane he (and everyone who agreed) was.

Now, I'm not interested in who can and who can't. I'm interested in finding out WHY a lot of people here can't.

I have no more trouble conversing with women then I do with men, though admittedly there are usually more conversation topics to draw from with guys thanks to a greater pool of shared interests.

But then I'm not approaching conversations or other interactions with any ulterior motives, so there's decidedly less potential for those interactions to be horribly awkward.

Apparently playing games makes you a social retard.

I do just fine though, thanks.

I can talk to girls, it's just I very often have nothing in common with them. C'est la vie when you're a nerd. As for anything else I've just assumed that for some reason I'm physically repugnant to them. It's not that I don't try, I do. I just fail every time. Must be pheromones or something.

But as LICD taught me, the fool concerns himself with the 99 who say no, when he should comfort himself with the one who says yes.

or something like that...

edit: lots of people saying it's if you have lots of contact with girls. well I have a younger sister and for about 3 years of primary school I played with girls almost exclusively due to my dislike of football (though of course most of my friends were still male). I am still incredibly socially awkward, though only really with girls I actually fancy. Explain THAT to me.

Actually I will, it's my narcissism that makes me totally fear rejection to the extent that I literally cannot accept it and will go to any lengths to avoid it, even when I'm drunk (and I mean collapsing on the floor drunk) I never have the confidence. I'm doomed to a life of loneliness...

Personally, I love girls! Girls are awesome! They (on average) smell better, sound better, behave better, look better and are overall far more pleasant to be around than most men. As such, I've sought out and enjoyed their company during my life far more than the company of other males and ended up with more female friends than male friends. This has had a fun side-effect of giving me the basic social skills needed to communicate with the females of my species without spazzing out and making an idiot of myself.

I'm still socially awkward, just less so when it comes to girls... :)
