Why do so many people hate Naruto?

I like Naruto. But at every con like half the cosplayers are dressed like Naruto or Sasuke. And most of them aren't even hot girls.

Bad story, incredibly number of fillers, absolutely idiotic plot and setting - it's lost halfway between semi-traditional Japanese/asian setting with magic and some kind of semi-modern setting - they used fucking modern-looking phones even in the earlier episodes, and some of the movies have rather futuristic things that don't fit in the setting.

Then there are annoying characters, who are badly dubbed (but then again, I don't think anyone would really watch Naruto in dubs, they should know better.) and ninjas that aren't at all fucking ninjas. Look, yes, it's a fictional setting, but ninja is a stealthy assassin. Wearing ORANGE JUMPSUITS and not wanting to kill people doesn't go with being a ninja. It's not stealthy, and assassins shouldn't be all that afraid of killing others. That's their job, even if they have some depressing flashbacks about it afterward.

But then again, seeing how the guy who did the manga originally wanted it to be completely different (Naruto was the main character) and not involved with ninjas at all, it's somewhat understandable why he's so out of place. The original setting was something about magical warriors transforming into animals. Which sort of turned into plot/subplot in Naruto.

Naruto would make an okay "magical warrior/superhero" but as a ninja... just no.

oh ya and it's mainstream. It's always cool to hate mainstream.

loving it.

i hope it ends sometime soon though.
i read the manga and can tell you: they've figured out another uber-powerful enemy.

i hope sasuke dies soon because only then will the series end.

It's insipid and its fans are annoying as fuck.

Wow, what do you know, summed up the problems in a single sentence. How hard was that?

I'm not going to read 7 pages, but the main reason is probably the same as always. It's popular with weeaboos, and goes on forever. Therefore, it must be bad.

See also: Inuyasha, for example.

Naruto is problematic because it refuses to actual do what it does well. It comes out with appealing characters and good moments, but it always seems to drown those moments in a sea of Naruto repeating his angsty backstory...a series that had more impressive fights between characters with interesting powers (like Sakura v Sasori) and focused more on the appealing characters (Shikamaru)...THAT would be a great series.

Angst is a general problem in Shonen anime that turns off the non-teen demographic. It's fine if you're One Piece and you use it sparingly to add a dash of drama to the fun, but it sinks a series like Naruto when what could otherwise be whoosh-crikey-ninja-fun is weighed down by "Wahhhh, I didn't have any friends as a kid!"

Of course, it's not as bad as Bleach, which is crispy puke, but that's a different thread.

Because there's MUCH better anime out there that people could be watching? Because Narutards exemplify every negative stereotype about fans of Japanese culture not from Japan? How about because yes, the show is all filler...and thus refers back to stereotypes previously referenced?
He's making a pretty compelling argument, and I don't even have the slightest clue as to what you're all on about.

Well done, SimuLord!

I like Naruto, but I lost interest after a while. Too many fillers. Lately I've been tempted to pick the series back up to see where Masashi Kishimoto took the series. You say that they upload the series online?

The main thing I dislike about it is how most of its fans regard it. It's a nice show, but it isn't that great.
Dragon Ball Z however... :)

Very true. I always thought of Inuyasha as the "female" version of DBZ when I was a youngster because all the girls who liked anime watched Inuyasha and all the Males watched DBZ.

Also I love your avatar!
Inuyasha had a lot of drama to it too, so that's a big reason alot of girls get into it. I'll admit, I liked the series for a bit, but that's before I knew the manga was over 400 chapters along with no end in sight (at the time, and going by the state it was in in Japan at that time). lol

And thank you.

I'm not sure why it's so hated either. It doesnt even have as much filler as a lot of people think. At least half of what some people call "filler" in naruto is just episodes where they focused on the plot instead of having a great big ninja fight. Maybe they just don't like the character naruto? idk.
i personally just prefer bleach or FMA
nothing personall and i dont drag on like some people do about how its shit and this and that if you like it then its your choice
I prefer bleach and fma too, but i like naruto.
