I just don't like Shonen in general. They use certain conventions which I generally dislike, over and over: (extremely loud, tenatious ten year old wants/needs to become the greatest Pokemon trainer/hunter/ninja/pirate/*insert social elite here*. His willpower overcomes his casual stupidity and wrecklessness, he turns out to be uncommonly talented, to the point that he can hold-his-own against significantly more advanced adults practitioners. He'll often have a female sidekick who acts as the voice of reason/planner/support/damsel in distress and takes a back seat during the fighting. Fights themselves become longer and longer as the series progresses, mostly due to the fight featuring ever more amounts of extranious dialogue and fight analysis)
I also dislike the length of them. I like my stories to be shown with brevity. I'm not reading War and Peace, I'm watching a twenty minute show. Shonen seem to love grandious stories which feature huge amounts of fight analysis, extranious exposition, and filler episodes. To hell with that, stop wasting my time!
Of all the Shonen I have seen, I guess I like One Piece best. Despite exhibiting all th eprevious mentioned short comings I despise, I do like the unusual art style, the boisterous story and the colourfulness of the characters.
