I don't personally hate all police, but I hate the police in my town, all they do all day is drive around the school and the factories all day so they can catch speeders, that's how small my town is... -.-

In general, people hate police because they represent the line between lawlessness & lawfulness, which means that we don't have a no consequence choice, hence, we are being controlled.
This view is dangerous & people that dislike police share this view at some fundamental level.
Now distrusting the corrupt is fine, but to dislike all police reveals the way a person views life as a whole.
What does this say about those that dislike police (aside from just distrusting, which is based on some being corrupt...) is that they wish to do whatever they choose without having to answer to an authority...

I dunno about your cops, but the ones in my town are lazy thugs... and we even hire them as security officers at the theater. Do they keep an eye out for trouble? Hell no, they hide in the back halls and get paid $30 an hour to talk on their motherfucking cell phone. Oh, and did I mention how they apparently like to beat the shit out of suspects without making it look like they did? I wouldn't believe it if only one of my friends had told me, but I've heard it repeatedly.
Out of personal experience, they wasted my damn money. I had a wreck literally fifty feet from my house, but instead of towing my car to my house, they got the guy to tow it to his lot and didn't tell me how long until I could pick it up. Nor did they tell me that it'd cost money for every day he had it at his lot. So, the dumbass cops made me spend two hundred bucks that I didn't fucking have to.
All the shit I hear about cops around here, just makes me resolve to do better when I become one after I graduate uni.

I hate the cops in my area, elsewhere they have been alright, but the ones by me are A) lazy, B) take 3 days to investigate a break-in, C) take 10 months to get visual identification on a suspect when 3 of that suspects friends have dropped him in the shit 10 months before and D) walk around with their cocks in their mouths and expect you to treat them withy respect while showing none themselves... tell me why i should respect them... and the fact they risk their lives to protect me is invalid when i quote reasons A) B) C) and D)... i would prefer to have no one protect me than these prats
I don't hate the police because they aren't incompetent idiots. It seems that many Americans hate police in this thread though, maybe this says something about the state of things across the pond.
I work on an ambulance and see plenty of what normal people would call "police brutality".

Police are generally a bunch of hopped up douchebags. They seem to think that they are all better than the rest of society and it really shows. If they would stop having such an "us against them" mentality then people might actually start to respect and even trust them...

I think it's very funny how half the responses are: A clear example of cops abusing their power, followed by "I don't hate the cops, I distrust them and (maybe) hate the really bad ones".
And the other half are: "People who hate cops are just childish and don't want to be responsible".
I think that's really telling of the authoritarian mindset. It's truly amazing how people can ignore facts that are right in front of their eyes.
I myself have been arrested for no reason whatsoever, and saw my friend being purposefully run over by a cop car. Also there's the constant violence against protesters, the agents provocateur at said protests, and the general lack of willingness to do anything about crime.
