What is it that makes people hate others that they have never met? Weather they are from a different country, different skin color, or just because of the cloths they ware. The list of reasons go on but the question remains, why the hate?

I'm no psychology major so I can only speculate. But I do know that the mind likes to label things, and that people dislike change. As far as the labeling goes, people often when they see or hear of a person who looks a certain way, they assume that all people that look like that act the same way. And for change, to quote Terry Pratchett "what people really want is for tomorrow to be pretty much the same as today". So when they see someone who is different then them they see it as a change, and they dislike that, and thus that person.

Anyway that's my theory. What are your theorys on why people hate blindly?

They have been brought up to think certain things are wrong( my dad hates gays and lesbians with a passion while I could care less what people do with their sexuality)

Influence. I don't hate without reason, because my parents don't. If my parents hated blacks, I'd probably be so inclined.

well, i hate because i don't like something strongly, and so call it hate. for example, the juggalos, which is a popular group in my town, mainly consists of teens that think they are tough, do drugs, and are hated by everyone else. not wanting to ruin my future life with things like drugs and a criminal record, i tend to stay away from them

We hate so we can express our feelings of anger and sadness. It helps us not be overwhelmed it's also a survival instinct.

This has been another wonderful post by Knight steel.

I'd say it is a mix of upbringing and typical human nature. Humans typically approach different things in a different way to familiar things.

My parents are homophobic, racist, and conservative Catholics. It's funny, since I'm really none of those, but I really think that our family (or just who we hang with) plays a part in our dislikes.

Personally, I love change. I don't like monotony or redundancy.

Basically what you said how people just hate the differnce in people, but more to it.People dont hate the person, just hate their way of life.People are raised that their way of life is the best and the only way they should live.Thats why some cultures that are "primative",like the mayans, try to keep most of their earlier culture. They dont like other ways of living because they were raised to think that their way of living is the best. And if someone lives different than that person, then they hate him for his/her way of living because it is different and they tend to take only the worst of that person's people and make themself think that everyone who lives the sameway as that person, they are just like that person. So overal people want everything to be the same and dont like things that are different than what they are use to.

Because humans are still flock animals. People that differs from the norm of your group are potentially dangerous and enemies. Hate is a natural respons to dangerous things since it will giive you an adrenaline boost which help you in a fight or flight situation.

hope it makes sense.

So if you hated a game and I liked it you'd hate me? If that's what your saying then I think you take opinions to seriously.

I think the mind will automatically be prejudiced against that which is different to itself.

To quote Yoda, "fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering". People fear what they don't understand, they become angry because they don't understand it, and they rather hate that thing rather than try to understand. And sometimes their hate leads to other peoples' suffering.

Sorry to point this out, but it's "couldn't care less", not could.

Could care less means that you care somewhat

Yeah I'm a minor grammar-nazi, apologies.

Anyway OT: Because people are stupid. Or, they have stupid prejudgements.
