I have watched every episode of ZP,since it has started and I can say that I haven't seen anywhere else something this enjoyable, when it comes to reviewing a game.

The sheer cynicism mixed with animated videos and his "bashing" on games that deserve it just makes my day with every episode I watch.

Most of the games that I decide playing don't evolve around me checking for a rating.I usually play the game for myself and decide if it was worth my time or not.

To put it boldly,"you never know until you play it for yourself".

The Accent, or his very good points. Also the amount of profanity thrown about and some of it walking across the screen

Because I like his style, he points out all the obvious annoying flaws and doesn't give a flying fuck what the masses think, just like all reviewers should.

He's funny, sometimes makes good points, and most importantly he's professional. ZP makes most of the video game reviews/commentaries out there on the net look like the amateurish unfunny geek attention seeking that they are.

I just enjoy his reviewing style. He's the first person I ever heard use that kind of fast-talking thing. It's entertaining, to say the least.

Comedic timing and pace. Because of his rapid delivery, the punchlines always completely blindside we, the viewers, and all it takes is the quarter-second pause he gives us to comprehend said punchline and laugh. Then it's right on to the next joke set-up, and so on and so forth, for the whole episode. Also, the way he meshes visual gags with the words is almost always spot on. It'd be like combining Robin Williams with Garfield comics. Or Zits, or whatever comic strips you enjoy.

mainly i like it because he says what i would think about most the games and is brutally honest about it. i don't agree with everything he says and i quite liked a few of the games he utterly destroyed in reviews but thats because ( wait for it ) IT IS HIS OPINION PEOPLE the only difference is he is paid to give it to us

His job is to bash video games, and he STILL couldn't bring himself to bash Portal. That right there shows a pretty deep understanding of what makes a good game. Portal had the best level design I've ever seen in a first person game, and 90% of those that didn't like it forget it was only $20 and/or didn't finish it.

Flame Shield Activate.
I think you're getting slightly off topic here.....
Sorry, I'll summarize what I'm trying to say.

Yahtzee is incredible at pinpointing flaws in games that gamers, as a collective whole, should notice. Whenever a game is an unintuitive piece of crap, he will undoubtedly say so in his review. Like most people who play/have played a lot of games, he will ignore any redeeming factors when a game is unintuitive. He hated MW2 because the core game was terrible, and didn't even have to touch on the multiplayer. Plus he knows that multiplayer adds longevity to a game, but doesn't necessarily make it good.

The only thing I may disagree with him about is that games shouldn't be judged at all on their multiplayer. I'll be honest, when a game has a shitty campaign, I get pissed off. Every single Halo since Halo 1 has been a HUGE disappointment (for me) because of how boring and unintuitive the campaign is. However, Halo 3 was an incredible game for a lot of people because of what it did with multiplayer. Halo, Gears, and MW will all hold a special place for their multiplayer advancements, regardless of how crappy the levels were. There will always be people who are only into gaming because it's something else to compete about, and there will always be gamers who play as a form of escapist entertainment. His viewpoint most definitely represents the latter, as does mine.

TL;DR - I love Yahtzee because he has a
pretty deep understanding of what makes a good game.
For the record Yahtzee liked Call of Duty 4. Also.. Gears of War's single player was awesome. Not super long by any stretch, but it was long enough to last a few co-op sessions. The set pieces were memorable and the whole gameplay made a massive turn in how people play shooters.

Also put Xbox 360 on the map as far as I'm concerned.
Yeah I know a lot of people who got 360's for GoW. I really meant the sequels though.

I definitely had a lot of fun with GoW and CoD4's campaign was pretty awesome; I never said Yahtzee didn't like it. I'll still say that Gears had a lot of repetitive parts, but I only played on Insanity after I unlocked it so I probably had a more frustrating time than others.

I like him because in between the dick jokes, he occasionally says something worthwhile.

Occasionally.

Why do I like Yahtzee? I think his lofty standards are useful, I mean, if YAHTZEE likes a game, it must be doing something right. I didn't like Yahtzee at first though, I thought he was just another shmuck thinking he was clever by bashing videogames on the internet.

I gained a large amount of respect for Yahtzee after I reading some of his short-stories and after playing 1213, and the Chzo Mythos. Both of which I highly recommended. I realized that he genuinely wishes for the medium to go forward and is constantly frustrated by it's current state. He's also willing to put his money where his mouth is and actually make his own games.

Pretty cool guy, even if I don't always agree with him.

From all his reviews the only one I saw when he did not shit all over a game was Arkham Asylum. I like his reviews because he talks about the game as you would with your friends except alot faster and in a brittish accent. He gives no game a free pass like alot of others are suspected to, hes a hater pure and simple and what does the internet love more than haters. Also IMPS.
Are we talking about the same Yahtzee here? I've never seen him do a review before.
Zing!

OT: Because he's a dick. And dicks are funny.

He can be very funny - sometimes it comes off as a little forced; after all, it just won't be right if he says generally nice things about the game in a calm, angelic voice.

That's just not Yahtzee.

And he can make some damn good points about a game - he doesn't just rag on them and make no critic-like observations, as the anti-Yahtzee brigade would have you believe.

He's used to be funny, but in all fairness I think he wants to stop doing Zero Punctuation. He's been going for nearly three years now. He sounds like he's getting tired of it, and with him writing a book, opening a bar and trying to get a TV show off the ground it's obvious he wants to do other things.
