Why do you favour the Escapist's forums?

because i found this one first

got used to the layout

people were friendly enough to get along with

good threads about a vast amount of subjects

and the people here are very helpful if you have a problem of some sort, i basically got my basic knowledge of computers from here (which i then turned into advanced knowledge because i'm boss)

I realize that it's an addiction at this point. I've had some friends talking about an intervention for me, but I realized all of these friends are from the Escapist, and they'd only be encouraging the problem. Alas, there seems to be no easy solution for me.

In all honesty, I've taken to the people on the forum, and I find I'm sticking around as much for the community as I am for the forums themselves. Part of the reason I'm on the IRC all the time, I think.

Also, I find I quite enjoy the little quirks on the forums. I'm good with formatting, I know the people around, I generally know what to talk about. It's just an enjoyable experience for me, I think.

Came here for the content, joined the forum and found that it was pretty good. There's a pretty good mod team here, so you rarely get assholes/trolls showing up.

I like the format in this forum. I like it alot more than 4 chan and I don't see trolls that often. I also find the people on it are generally smarter than the "LOL NOOB SUX AT HALO TATS Y HE H8S IT" I've seen in other forums.

I like the community. I don't really have any friends on the forum, but I haven't really come across anybody I can't stand. Everyone seems able to carry on an intelligent conversation, and everyone seems capable of a good discussion. I also like the fact that a lot of topics are actually interesting, I've posted more on this forum than any other forum I've been on. The Escapist forum is just a real good forum.

I feel the same way and would like to add that this is a more diverse community, not just in nationality but in age too. Most game forums I feel like I'm trying to discuss something with a bunch of American 8 year olds. I like to get a wide variety of perspectives.
In these forums you can get into a good debate without people taking it personally... in other words, the folks here have a good sense of humor and don't take things too seriously.

Also, I love the community, everyone can get along without starting some troll fest or flame war (most of the time)
I've also made some very good friends here, not to mention I'm part of the meets that go on here so know people in Real Life from here.

It's one of the best gaming forums I've been on too.

I read the magazine articles regularly. Also the diverse amount of topics means you can see how varied people's opinions are. Someone you'd think you disagree with on anything may very well agree with you on multiple opinions.

The people. I love the admins, mods, contributors and users. It's the place where I can see ZP, discuss absolutely everything in the world rationally. Seriously, how many places are there where things like racism and sexuality can be discussed openly and civil? It truly is the last bastion of intelligence on the internet. It's the best community around IMHO.

Personally I'm only hanging around here because my usual forums are blocked off with the internet I have at school. I find that the forums here have too many people on them so:

1) Most threads I look at already have multiple pages of response so I find it long and tiresome to go through and add any new and original input.

2) Too many people means you don't get to know everyone as well.

3) I don't particularly like the layout, although it is nice having a poll option.


So why do you choose to use these forums over other forums?



(People are probably going to tell me that this has already been asked, which kind of adds to page 1 of repeated topics coming up )

If you want a smaller, more personal community, try the pubclub forums. As for the layout, I love it as well, so can't help you there.

I used to come here far more regularly because of the intelligent dialog and interesting topics. Sadly, I've been coming here less and less because an increase in trolling and pointless arguments (in the past few months). Since I'm a console gamer based in the US with an affinity for JRPGs, I'm also getting downright sick of the close-minded (and usually unfounded) opinions of a vocal majority around here. I've seen so many hate threads recently that it's really making me re-evaluate the perceived intellect of the community. I'm still here for now, but it's really getting out of hand.

I love this place. Their so considerate they usually yell "FLAME WAR!" when two people just start disagreeing on something!

So yeah, nice people, extremely well moderated, and people from all sides of gaming with different miscellaneous interests. This is more or less the only forum I've ever bothered sticking around on.
