Obs: the spoiler part of the joke is the most ofensive thing i have ever writen, so dont read if you dont want to be offended
ie: smoke weed and use a carved pumpkin for a hat while burnig criminals in a statue made of hay and sticks

ya know this is a pretty good question. i guess id answer by saying racism is just ignorance and generaly says more about the person using it than the people its aimed at.

i think to hold someone of a different psyical body type up to insult because of something they truly have no controll over is just foolish in every way. on the other hand their are certian sterotypes that exist for a reason, and mostly because they are true. i think a persons CULTURE is a valid target for 'attack' because culture is something we learn and can unlearn if we have the brains, on the other hand skin color or the shape of your eyes your stuck with unless your (Mike Jackson).

on a good not though, i think that video games can contribute to education on races in a very good light. how often do you play a game like ohhhh ...... hell any game with certian 'factions' in it. like AOE for example or the civilization series where each 'race' has their own unique strengths and weakness. it kinda expands your thinking a bit. what if ALL races for REAL have their own strengths and weaknesses? i as an American place a high value on things like 'freedom' and a 'free market' economy, but thats just one of my 'factions' strengths, one of our weakness is in our forms of government BECAUSE there cant just be decision made and things accomplished we need to 'move the slider' 50 times before we accomplish our goals, another weakness is that we tend to become so obsessed with OUR wants and OUR needs that we let our brothers fall and offer them no help to stand up again.

i guess if i was too creat a unique American 'race' for a game it would be a really powerful tech race but it would be constiantly hampered by keeping the 'people' happy. as i said some sterotypes exist for a reason, but RACISM is just stupid.

Everyone has been racist, sexist and had a go at religion or non believers, it's something different and alot of people find it strange or annoying finding it difficult to tolerate.

I hate it when people say racist things or something about a group of people just because they feel they have the power.

I am the only one that believes being FOR a race is not different than being AGAINST a race?

Favoritism or being against...both racism in my opinion. I mean there's a difference between "having cultural pride" and just flat out thinking you are above the rest.

This song says it all...gotta love Avenue Q...

*sings along..."Everyone's a little bit racist..."*

But seriously, though. I live in the Midwest in the United States, a generally conservative place, and I got a lot of dirty looks and foul things/gestures mouthed at me for my Obama bumper stickers. Political differences aside, there was more hate than when I had Kerry support bumper stickers. My own grandma hated McCain, but refused to vote for Obama because she didn't think a black man could do the job. Racism unfortunately, is a trait that's passed from generation to generation. A very sad fact that only education and personal experience can change.

Racism sucks, and I know that the person who originally posted this was a little harsh at first, but when you're frustrated, you don't always think ahead. I can understand that. Glad they edited their post a little once they calmed down. ^^;

I get that all the time, but your logic is flawed; not everyone hates racism.

For starters, I do not hate racism. Now, I do find the hatred of other people just because of different background/skin colour wrong, but at the same time I do love stereotypes because they're funny in their own right. :)

Oh, boo! I find racism funny. Boo! Shame on me! I bet I watch South Park and like it. *rolls eyes*

Give me a chance to explain myself before linching me (narf narf). I enjoy absurd entertainment, such as the Marx Brothers, South Park, and the TV show Stella that ran a couple years back. I just see racist comments as an extention of absurd comedy, as in, I find racism absurd.

The idea of someone hating another human being for their skin colour is so odd that it makes me laugh. What a sad world we live in.

(and "we fight for slanty eyes" means they fight for the side of Japan. That's not racism, that's historical fact; the leaders of WW2 Japan had slanty eyes. I'm sorry if they offended you.(Captain Obvious to the rescue!!!))

Agreed, the truely tolerent don't persecute Nazis, Racists, femenists, sexists etcetra. They don't CARE if someone is a racists, that is a sign of tolerence.
StylesofBeyond said:
One of the reasons I find racism stupid is that people don't actually acknowledge how many races there are- by their ignorance they assume that a person with dark skin is the same as any other, etc, when in fact there are dozens of races within a skin colour- Polish people and Italians are completely different races, yet they're both considered white!

Not trying to say that racism should be smarter- it's one of the most ignorant outlets for anger I can think of- but it gives people who aren't racist a skewiffed (yes, British) perception of what defines race, putting even more people in the dark. Why should a few people have the wrong understanding of something as complex and diverse as race distorted simply because a select group of people preach their own beliefs on it?
I'll add to that. Why are people from the southern states of the southern USA (Remember I declare that Canada is the northern usa while America is the southern usa) called white? THEY ARE RED NECKS! RED DOES NOT EQUAL WHITE

I hate racism so much because they hate others. The fact that those people hate others for reasons they consider justified makes me hate them so much. The only way to handle those people is to hate them and act upon that hatred so one day they will realize how much people hate them and go away.

Cheers.
Racism has NOTHING to do with HATE. It even giving poor sick Africans charity is racists. Because usually when people donate to them they don't think of the poor sick caucasians.
Racism isn't saying that one race is better than another... ITS SAYING THAT ALL RACES ARE DIFFERENT!.
It's like saying black people are black. A bit redundant but true and still racist. Or asians have thin eyes (depends on which part of asia though) is racist because it defines their characteristics.
Danzaivar said:
I dislike racism for two reasons. One is because being Racist is a complete waste of energy and moronically backwards way of thinking. The other reason is people (like the op) who go MENTAL if they think a person might be saying something slightly racist, seriously the irrationally proportioned hatred of racism is annoying as hell.

The whole double standards (Dark skinned people can use the 'n' word but light skinned people can't, which in itself is racist because your acknowledging that what you are allowed to do it based on your skin colour) is slightly annoying too, but hey.

Racist jokes on the other hand, can be funny as funk. Most seem to have the right combination of 'funny' and 'shock factor' to just make people laugh like mad. Some can go a bit far admittedly and then it stops being funny, but within reason they're just dark humour.

I always get the feeling that people who are hyper-sensitive to racism just react so strongly to it because they actually have suppressed racist tendencies deep down. Going mental at actual physical/emotional bullying caused by race is natural, going mental because someone said 'paki' just screams "I have issues!" to me.
Decent post :)

When that was on the news I was completely appalled.

Appalled by how foolishly petty it was on the part of the accusers, due to the knowledge of how often FAR WORSE things are said regularly said, both in anger and in endearment, over there in military bases/outposts/etc.
I do like the term "Paki", it just sounds so funny, when I first heard the term the first thing that came to my mind was a packet of chips. It doesn't sound racist at all, it sounds misleading... I think the "I" in paki makes it funny.
ZorroFonzarelli said:
I'm assuming you're looking for something other than "it's wrong". :)

I hate racism because it's disgustingly counter-productive. Holding something against someone based on their skin color, upbringing, accent, nationality, whatever...

It really makes no sense if you really think about it. These are factors no one has control over, and judging someone based on factors about themselves they cannot control is really ignorant.

It is based on an 'us versus them' mindset (which can be common on military bases, for that reason). I try to give a pass on the latter regard, because our soldiers are defending freedoms and when on base are actively in the "us and them" arena. Catch most of them with their families and they likely bear little ill will towards other groups.

Most racial issues today are misunderstandings, I believe. The bottom line is that all members of a 'race' are individually very different, and some are much more racially sensitive than others. When some things happen, the sensitive people take offense, turning it into an "us versus them" issue, and that draws in many who wouldn't otherwise really care.

I like Glenn Beck's notion of fighting racism: "Why hate people you don't even know? Meet them, get to know them, and let them get to know you so you can find legitimate reasons to annoy each other!" :)
Racism isn't necasarily holding people back it's also holding people forwar. (BTW nice Glenn Beck quote

To me, racism is a reflection of our own vanity and selfishness. When people say these things, its most probably to feel superior, powerful, maybe sometimes even cool. And I wonder just how people can say these things and not feel bad or at least realize how much it hurts to others.

And yes, some people take it a little overboard. But these people's ancestors were slaves. They worked and worked, and were hunted. Its natural that they would feel like vengeance must be theirs.

And racism isn't just "Whites are better than blacks". Sometimes racism can stretch to "Blacks vs Whites" and have the exact same effect. Therein is solved the same way.

And yet, I long for the day when we don't have to say "whites" or "blacks" or "African American".
I detest the term "African America" after all, WHERE IN THE WORLD IS THIS PLACE CALLED AFRICA AMERICA?

Breaking down the quote bit for bit:

We- The people fighting

Fight for- This is telling who they are going into battle for (example: For king and country!)

Slanty eyes-The people, who we are fighting for, not a reference to themselves; i.e. not our own eyes, but our leaders and/or people groups.

So an alternate translation could have been as follows: 'We fight for Japan!' or 'We fight for our leaders and/or ethnic group, who happen to have slant shapen eyes.'

Alternatly, you could have just said it in an Asian accent.
