I prefer most of the actual game mechanics of Fallout but the world of Oblivion is significantly more interesting to explore.
I also believe in this statement very muchVolafortis said:I don't even compare the two, they're very different. Anyone that thinks FO3 is "Oblivion with guns" is a moron.
Forgive me for mentioning something off topic, but I noticed the girl in your avatar is from an Anime Im constantly seeing things from, and its bothering the hell out of me XD..you don't happen to know the name do you?wootsman said:amenWurek said:I've noticed that a lot of people (including fellow escapists) prefer Oblivion to Fallout 3.
First i played Fallout 3 and it blew me away so when a heard that Oblivion is similar i gave it a try. To me it was really boring and i just couldn't get into it.
100% agree. The world of Oblivion really sucked me in. It felt very organic with so much to discover and enjoy on such an impressive scale. The only other games that have done this for me are GTA San Andreas and Red Dead Redemption. Fallout came close, but not quite for some reason.LordNue said:The world is more colourful and has more variety. The sneaking gameplay feels a lot more useful. You get a lot more freedom in creating spells and enchantments, your equipment is more interesting since it doesn't just amount to "get power armor, equip and win game" Since even if you get to the level where daedric armor appears in Oblivion you might not want it depending on your build if you're a mage or you use light or medium armor instead. The DLC/expansion is a lot more satisfying too. This of course is all purely personal opinion.
Because the leveling system in oblivion sucked. If you picked any non-combat skills as your primaries, and happened to level those first, such as stealth and lockpicking, you basically got weaker as you leveled due to the npc's getting stronger, while your combat abilities don't change. Even if you do level with nothing but combat skills, you never get the feeling of getting stronger, since everything levels with you. I found sneaking around and looting to be fairly rewarding in morrowind, so I set up my first oblivion character accordingly, and got my ass kicked more and more as I leveled. Also, the quality of quest-reward items being based on the level you acquired them was kind of annoying.Ieyland said:That I will never understand.Altorin said:Most people don't.
A lot of people prefer Morrowind to Oblivion..
Because Oblivion doesn't piss on the ashes of its ancestors and it has a much better story and setting than Fallout 3.Wurek said:I've noticed that a lot of people (including fellow escapists) prefer Oblivion to Fallout 3.

Just don't say because it was grey =)
