I started posting here actually because of the entire March Mayhem thing. In particular the Turbine vs Valve thread. I felt the need to say what I had on my mind. So many people were just driving each other into the ground over a preference for their favorite developer that it was beyond me why people could have so much hatred cropped up inside of them.

I was not talking specifically for the Valve people either, I saw Turbine lovers do the same thing and that is not how I remember my community to be. I plan to stay, may not be a top contributor, but you can bet I will keep reading and posting here and there every now and then.

99% of the forums in my country are filled with immature nerds. And here I find that they are elaborate ^-^

Also, the topics you people post are much more interesting than the average thingy

Yeah, I guess what I'm doing is pretty ballsy. What I mean is I get shy talking to people. I never know what to say.
Kinda know what you mean, I'm good at small-talk with random people. But it's different with friends, well I can't really gét them. Yes I can chat about random stuff, but I never feel attached.

And if you feel at home where you are, you could go to college/university in another country. You speak English well, so you could come over here. Or America, or, if you speak any other languages, there other countries to choose from.
Thanks (although it definatly needs work :p) and I've given that some thought. It would be quite a big step though, I already feel alien in random city's in my own country :p At least I have the Escapist ;-)

Yeah, the Escapist is pretty good. There are loads of different people to chat to, and you don't just have to talk about games.

It's like a drug. I know I need to do some homework but "Oh, look over there, that thread looks interesting! What, it's midnight already?!"
Oh true, so very true.
This place is also a safe haven from the worse gaming forums on the internet.

I don't really post. I mostly lurk, as I guess my post count will tell when compared to my signup date.

(EDIT: Blimey, just noticed my 1-year anniversary was yesterday.)

Pedantry aside... it's a nice community with good discussion, a high standard of communication and effective moderation that ensures a quick end to most douchebaggery.

Also, ponies.

I write on it either when I'm bored or when I get caught up in it after watching the new Zero Punctuation or Unforgotten Realms.

Reason1: my job can be really boring some days.

Reason2: it's way better than the alternatives. I won't get modded because I mention an unapproved piece of Chinese hardware and (while there are a few of course) this site probably has the least amount of pathetic "___ rulez" fanboys therefore reading the boards doesn't usually make me burn my earpiece.

Reason3: it isn't all about games. I like games but you guys talk about other things too. I suggested someone read Prometheus Rising a couple of weeks ago. Try that on ign.
