Thankfully I'm not one of those 99% - I post here because of the snobbery. I came to the Escapist a year ago after spending time buried in some of the worst places on the internet, working and playing closely with the virus writers and so-called "hackers" that I could contact for whatever my reasons.

It is, and continues to be, a breath of fresh air to deal with people who generally understand how to spell and have a discussion and, let's face it, it is nice not to be annoyed that someone is trying l337 h@x on my goddamned connection just because they disagree with what I am saying.

Chalk one more up to snobbish elitism!

Because while watching Yahtzee's videos, noticing those threads off to the side of the page and not being able to comment was driving me bonkers. By the "social shapeshifter" thread, I'd finally had enough, so I registered an account.

I stick around and post because it's interesting.

Exactly the same reason for me, I'd be going through zero punctuation and off topic there are really interesting threads that I can't help but notice.

I joined the Escapist partly because there seemed to be a generally high level of discourse to partake in, but what truly prompted me to join was that someone mentioned Peter Tagtgren, who is my favorite musician and is totally obscure.

I started posting here a few months ago, when working on the most boring summer job ever, writing health and safety reports. Since then this forum has become that site I check every time I'm bored or procrastinating.
