Why do you prefer your most played platform?

Simple question here: What makes you prefer to play games on your platform of choice?
For example, my brother favors the 360 primarily because he loves to rent. Most places seem to get more 360 copies of games, meaning less wait time, and he claims (probably rightly so) that there's a lot less downloading required for 360 games. He also prefer to play on Live (mostly because of his friends being on it).
As for me, I favor the PS3 mostly because I've always been a fan of the Sony consoles, so the controller feels more natural.
Meanwhile my roommate prefers his computer because of Steam Sales and that he's working with it constantly anyways (he can instantly switch from work to play when he feels like it as he says).

So how about you all? What are your primary reasons as to why you play one platform more than the rest? It can be technical or otherwise (such as preferring a console but playing a handheld because the TV is almost always in use or something like that).

Please keep things civilized here.

PC, because it's objectively superior on every criteria you could possibly judge a gaming platform on.

Apart from the 3 C's. Convenience, Compatibility, and Cost. Though if you can put up with these or don't mind budget PC's without all the bells and whistles, PC is undeniably for you.

OT: I use PC and 360, with the 360 acting as emulator for my old XBOX era games with compatibility issues and for multiplats where my 360 playing friends will make for better gaming chums than my PC playing friends.

I prefer my PC as I like the feel and control of mouse and keyboard, you can get games insanely cheap on steam, modding communities for big games, I can play current gen games and emulate older gen games, and sometimes the people who play online on nicer. (Again, sometimes, I've met some pretty big assholes in a few games) Although my one problem with it is that the current gen games that aren't exclusives are poorly optimized. That's partly why I have an Xbox 360 as well.

I have a PS3 and Wii and I enjoy my PS3 more due to it having better third party support. I'll eventually get into PC gaming though when I can get me the monies

This, along with the ability to tamper with the games is my primary reason for being a PC gamer. You can't really install mods, or fiddle with server variables on a console very often, can you? Doom 3 with a player shadow's a bit unsettling too. Also, it's sort of a line of business for me.

I actually play all my systems pretty much equally (PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PC).

Although I am playing the PC the most now because I am still wrapping up all those games from the steam summer sale.

I love my PS2 mostly because it has the franchises/library to back it up. It's not the most powerful console, but it had the best support. I love platformers, so you already have 3 franchises with Ratchet, Sly, and Jak as your big exclusive titles. Notable non-platforming exclusives include the two Team Ico games, Kingdom Hearts series, and Okami among others. And then you have a bunch of good multi-plats like Psychonauts and Beyond Good & Evil so you won't be missing things. And of course that doesn't count the backwards compatability with the PS1.

Ya, the PS2 didn't have too much other than a massive library (that also happened to have a LOT of good games) and backwards compatability, but my top 10 has SO many games from that black box. Lots of good memories *sniff*.

Not gonna lie, the PS2 remains my favorite console of all time. Still, I don't get too much time with it these days (my brother holds onto it right now). There's also a part of me also likes the fact that the lack of online meant that games were finished when they were released (even if that meant that special extras meant buying the game all over again) and that I could play a game without having to download anything.

I prefer my PC over the consoles for a variety of reasons. Primarily being good mods that make the games more fun for me but also because of the interface tools I can use to play the game with. A keyboard & mouse give me excellent control for RTS or FPS games but arent as good for fighting games like street fighter. Yet I can still plug in a controller and be just as effective. You just dont have that customization with consoles IMO

10 years ago I might have agreed that PC gaming was easily more exprensive then console gaming but in this generation I have had so many red rings of death on my Xbox's that I probably could have bought some significant upgrades for my PC if not built an entirely new PC.

However the one thing that really puts PCs apart is that I can build my own for whatever means I have in mind and its about 1/3 of the cost if I do so. All I loose is customer support. Granted this requires some technical knowledge but thats pretty easy to get today, one only needs to be willing to learn.

I used to play my PS3 all the time because I liked it better than the 360. Now that I have a 360 I play that more and my PS3 hardly ever. Most of my friends have 360, so it just kinda ends up that way.

What do you mean "compatibility"? PCs are infinitely backwards compatible, as well as being able to play console games from previous generations. They have a massive amount more compatibility than consoles. Same for cost: you don't need a 1000+ machine... a 400-600 will play most games on medium. Plus, the games are significantly cheaper on PCs as well (Steam sales... need I say more?), so even though the entry price is higher, you end up saving more money with PC gaming in the long run :)

About the only thing is convenience, which is debatable. It depends on how you view and define what is convenient. If being able to plug and play is convenient in your mind, then I suppose it goes to console, but being able to reduce everything you need to do to one piece of technology is your idea of convenience, then PC wins.

Was always partial to Nintendo until the PS2 came out. Launched the week before my 9th birthday dad bought it for me. Still sits next to my PS3. That is until the FFX remake comes out, the only game I still have since my little cousin destroyed my Tengu Wrath of Shadows.

I play games on PC because I don't like clutter and prefer to have one machine that can do everything. Plus I love to tinker with things and I can mod and tinker with my machines however I want and not get sued.

I'm dividing my time between 4 consoles (technically 6 but the PS3 is a movie player by and large and the original Xbox...well, I'm not getting too attached since my sister wants it back for some reason e.e)

Anyway, the one I'll talk about is the Xbox 360. The other three being Nintendo consoles (SNES, GC and N64) I probably have the most life-time, time spent on the N64 or Super Nintendo but we're modern people and I prefer the 360 the most because I don't have to install games like I would have to in the PS3. It doesn't require motion controls like the Wii. Also unlike the PS3, shooting games are a lot less awkward to play because the controller has Dreamcast-esq triggers instead of marshmallow L/R2 buttons.

Honestly, each console has its issues. Wii's good games require you to actually LOOK for them (bad in an industry now run by the hype-machine) through the oceans of shovelware. 360 has the XBL has the infamous community and having to pay a subscription, PS3 has the constant firmware updates and quiet community (but I personally consider that a benefit) and the PC has DRM and a community even worse than the XBL community. Pick you poison...

My Wii has been getting a lot of use lately as I've been going on a retro binge. A lot of great old games on there, and there' no "grey areas" like using emulators. I've also been picking up a lot of the big titles for it now that the prices on most non-first party titles are going down.
Not exactly the best sign when bargain-bins and old games have been where I've been getting most of my entertainment.

I've also been getting use out of my 3DS because I have a lot of walking around to do, so having something to do in between classes is always nice.
