Video Games and Metal have one thing(among others) in common: They're both have a "larger than life" and "fantasy" vibe to them.meticadpa said:Just curious. Most of the other forums I'm a member of has a much lower concentration. I'm not complaining since I do like a bit of metal myself, however.
So, Escapist, why do you think it is?
If you're talking Power Metal maybe.Ham_authority95 said:Video Games and Metal have one thing(among others) in common: They're both have a "larger than life" and "fantasy" vibe to them.meticadpa said:Just curious. Find a game with an epic battle and you will probably find about a thousand metal songs about an epic battle as well.
That's how I think about it, anyway.
"Different" should be taken with a grain of salt if you actually think about how many metal-heads there are in the world...(not that it's a bad thing)Tharwen said:Liking metal is one of the easiest ways to be different.
That's an excellent point. I'm interested in metal and rock mostly because I play the guitar. Otherwise I probably wouldn't be.Levi93 said:alot of escapists are musicians, myself included.
metal and rock are the only mainstream genres of music that i can think of that use more popular instruments (guitar, drums, bass ect.)
The "larger than life" vibe still applies. Metal from all different sub-genres sound "massive". Video Games also often have a "massive" plot or world to them(in both meaning and narrative).DJDarque said:If you're talking Power Metal maybe.Ham_authority95 said:Video Games and Metal have one thing(among others) in common: They're both have a "larger than life" and "fantasy" vibe to them.meticadpa said:Just curious. I guess I can see what you're saying. Though in my own opinion it seems like a somewhat stretched comparison.Ham_authority95 said:The "larger than life" vibe still applies. Granted, this doesn't apply to oldie games like Mario or Zelda...
You're right, but most of the people here are between about 14 and 24, when people usually like autotuned crap, so metal is different among those groups.Ham_authority95 said:"Different" should be taken with a grain of salt if you actually think about how many metal-heads there are in the world...(not that it's a bad thing)Tharwen said:Liking metal is one of the easiest ways to be different.
