Again, as with my TF2 question, it seams that so many people here hate MW2 multiplayer. Again, I agree with them, but why does a lot of people here seem to hate it? I can't go one day with out seeing several threads about how bad the game is, what is that encites so much hatred on this site? Is it the horrible balance? The "get instant killed by every cough" gameplay? The amount of easily exploitable cheap tactics and the amount of camping? The amount of 12 year olds in every, single, game? A "win any game by getting enough kills" mechanic that the Nuke presents? Why does MW2 get so much universal rage from this site?

(Please don't flame me, I am just curios as to why the game gets so much negative attention here)

It's cool to hate it, along with Halo, Gears of War, religion and JRPG's. If you want to be loved even more then say you love TF2, Half Life and Portal.

While I am half joking it does seem that the above seems scarily accurate for a rather large amount of people on this site.

Umm...
I fucking love the game, actually.
And I don't even play it online.
EDIT: Awaiting Furbs comment so I can rage at him.

All the stuff they said they wouldn't include in CoD4 (akimbo weapons, OP weapons and perks) were thrown in for the hell of it. The balance was destroyed and it punishes you for other people's mistakes. Awful game, I can't wait to trade it in on Friday to get Splintercell.

Well that's just, like, your opinion man.

OT: I don't hate it. It confused me as fuck, but I enjoyed the climax and the multiplayer was fun

Actually as far as I'm concerned its a good game well balanced takes skill to survive and win an encounter, luck also plays a part, and the 12 yr olds I uasually(sp) never hear them, ut hey thats why god invented mute.

I recently switched over from MW2 to BC2 and I'm really glad I made the change, MW2 just instantly made my blood boil whenever I went on.

I don't know about everyone else but I love MW2. Sure its single player was short, and sure its multiplayer is a bit unbalanced. But once I got over it, I found it to be a solid and enjoyable shooter.

We don't Hate the game. (I love it.)
We hate IW taking away our dedicated servers and a cheer when ever we see another news report about the IW reshuffle and just think.
"You guys got it wrong and now god bestows holy judgement!!!"

Sorry, I was not refering to the single player (which is fun, even if a lot of the story doesn't make sense) or the Black Opp missions (man are those fun), but the multiplayer. I'll change the original post to make that more clear.

most of us have been playing games since the NES days and are appalled that such an unoriginal game has such a huge community (of 12 year olds mostly) and sales numbers. We tend to be a bit nostalgic about the days of gaming where the plot could be about saving a pet frog in a sewer system by using a tank (blaster master in case you were wondering)and fear that FPS games have ruined the notion a truly imaginative and fun game going mainstream today.

or maybe that's just me who thinks that.

I don't hate it myself, I find it OK and good to play with friends on local MP. Don't have LIVE so I can't comment on that.
My only regret is that I paid £35 for it. But when you see the shop you are buying it from selling MW1: GoTY edition for £45, you have to count yourself lucky.

The PC gamers though sound like they have a right to dislike it if features which they are used to and enjoy using have been ripped out of it though. I know they took out the dedicated servers, whatever they are but I think IW did rip out some more stuff as well.

EDIT: GAH! OP edited while I was posting.
Non crossed out bit is sort of relevant I think.

I don't hate the game, even if the online multiplayer is severely unbalanced. I was playing a team deathmatch about an hour ago and someone called in a tactical nuke, mostly thanks to the over-powered chopper gunner he had. Recently though I have found myself playing it quite a bit.

Well it started with the first game which was respectable, then the next one is announced, then the time and slow imformation causes fan fare, then the fan fare is recieved which casues expectations, then the varying expectations are either crushed or exeeded emediatly casuing hate levels, then with sufficiant time hackers manage to ruin the game for some, and various factors go on from there.

Oh, believe me, he's going to be a lot more harsh.

I actually played it on PC and, apart from the DS removal, didn't notice a single thing.

Heh... Well, aside from the reasons you've already mentioned.

For me? It just became not fun anymore.
The waiting/getting screwed around by trying to find a good host was really a major reason for me...

That aside, well... I'm not sure how to explain it, apart from repeating myself and just saying "it's not fun anymore".
That's just my personal opinion, obviously, so please don't anyone take what I've said to heart.

There haven't really been an abundance of MW2 hate-threads around for a while, but I will admit that they are still around, nonetheless.
As a pc gamer, though, I hated some of the things that IW did. And while I did genuinely enjoy the game for a good 5 months or so, both the campaign and online gameplay... It just got old, quickly. The way that IW approached some of the key aspects of this game just didn't do it for me, and I think there are a few other people on here that would agree with me.

EDIT: Though, I'll admit... For those saying that it's imbalanced... Well, maybe it is a little.
But I found a class that worked for me, and I used it practically all the time. If I didn't top the leaderboard, I was close to it, and those people who just rushed and knifed, I saw coming, and I (usually :p ) killed before they got to me first.
Basically... In terms of balance, it's not too bad. So, yea. I just want to say that, despite the above, I'm not complaining about the balance...

So MW2 is the represntation to all that is wrong with gaming today? Makes sense.
