the term 'pro' makes me wanna slap the people that use it, knock off 200 IQ points and denounce any skill the person may or may not have

Not related to gaming, but beer and wine. I love other alcoholic beverages, but the two most popular suck IMO. Never seen the appeal of soccer and basketball. It's also very rare for me to like music. I've liked maybe 2-3% of the songs I have ever heard. As such dancing and clubs hold very little appeal for me. Long story short, I'm a complete weirdo.

We need to name a new law I've just discovered.

Even after a shameworthy phenomenon has been satirezed it will still continue to grow exponentially. Ever see the movie Clueless? I believe it came out in '95. There's a slow-mo scene mocking how guys had taken to wearing their jeans around their knees and topped that insipid look off with the Fred Durst/fratboy backwards baseball cap. And the dipshits are still doing it. They'll be sure to call you a "******" for pointing out that you didn't attend work/walk into that gas station to see the entirety of their underwear.

Case in point: yesterday I made a joke thread entitled "why all the hate for why all the hate threads" and the why all the hate/why all the love thread just keep on truckin'.

Since when was satire intended to kill its targets?

The Satyricon was a nasty prod at the culture of excess, using common knowledge for cheap laughs. Aristophanes' Wasps is a seris of silly hyperbolic characters doing overblown things in court. Your thread, devastating as its impact clearly was, isn't going to kill certain kinds of discussion.

Why does everyone love Halo? I hate Halo! (It's just not that interesting for a sci-fi shooter)

This could also be said for Mass Effect, seriously, what's so great about it?

I do apologise, I missed that point in your first post. I agree on that principle, the whole goth thing springs to mind for me, the lack of self-awareness is dizzying.

I would disagree about it applying here, though. Ii's just the nature of the forums, certain topics appear in droves then in a week they stop and are replaced.

Remember 'the last something you somethinged is now in your cereal' and how it went away in the end? Same thing. If it peeves you, just ignore it. It'll go away. If it doesn't, it'll shrink down to just the people who want to vent. It's not poisoning the escapist, and it's easy to be the bigger person and just roll your eyes at threads you consider to be stupid.

Final Fantasy. All of them. Turn based nonsense.
That goes for Civilization as well.

As for non-games? The Lord of the Rings books. The world in which the characters reside is wonderful and deep, but the books progress so... freaking... slowly...

Watching sports. Playing sports? Fun. Watching sports? Boring as all hell.

It doesn't bother me that you don't like Gordon Freeman, it bothers me that you think your dislike is enough to warrant a thread. Congratulations, you don't like Gordon Freeman, which is a slight variation of the classic 'edgy' thread of "I didn't like Half Life 2" *cue audience gasps* I don't like a lot of video game characters, but that really doesn't have much discussion value. There are legions of people who think that disliking something popular makes them unique, when in fact it doesn't. Half Life 2 was a great game, and a lot of players loved it, and if you didn't, then that's your prerogative, but kindly stop broadcasting it, because we've seen endless amounts of threads with an identical sentiment.

I can't stand people who consider themselves better because they don't like blank while the herds of so-called sheep enjoy blank.

You don't like it, big whoop. The people who enjoy blank are a lot happier playing blank than you will ever be feeling self-important for not liking blank, so get over yourself.
Ugh, I love this post so much. SO MUCH. This almost exactly what I was thinking.
I'd blank your blank with a blank ,..because of this post....................blank blank blank.

And yet it's attracted 3 pages of discussion..

Anyway, since so many people are striking me from the 'would piss on if burning' list, I've reworded.

For the record, I know I'm not unique for disliking something, and neither are you for making a stuffy and pompous response intended to address me like a child. If my words bother you, read other topics. I'll try not to poison your internet in future, though.

I'd appreciate it if you tried to poison my internet in the future, because you've proven yourself as eloquent enough to be a good candidate for an online passive-aggressive argument.

Death Note. I haven't watched the whole show, but based on the episodes I saw, I didn't really like it or thought it was good.

Gonna back you up then. Bioware does not make the best RPGs, they make action games with really good writing.

OT: Final Fantasy 7. I don't hate it, necessarily, but I also don't get why it's regarded as the holy grail of JRPGS.
Because it was the first big, mainstream JRPG - the game that popularized the genre in the West and one of the first to use 3D graphics in such a cinimatic manner. It also introduced a slew of never before seen concepts in games; killing of key characters wasn't very common during that era for example.

It's not difficult to see why the game is revered as being the "holy grail" of the genre in the same way Super Mario 64 is the "holy grail" of the 3D platformer - the game practically defined the genre.

Because it was revolutionary.

I don't see you giving any explanation why you like these things.
It's much easier to spew hatred than to analyze a piece of media and explain why you find it appealing...

OT: Is this literally a "I dislike X" thread? Oh joy, people moaning about how they don't understand why everyone in the world doesn't have the same tastes as them...

I don't like CoD multiplayer, i can't see what people like about it so much. It might be because im a fan of Valve mutliplayers, but i don't see whta is so popular about CoD. I played the black-ops multiplayer, it wasn't very good... it also said it was going to kick me from a ranked match because i was running... really? Sure i'm a newbie, but your kicking me for doing the first instinct in games?

Also Counter Strike Source, like my friend said once, it's too base on headshots... eaither you played 3 years and are really good at it, or you havent and you die because a body shot is all you can muster.
