Oh to be young and hopeless again.

I can imagine all the metal heads holding the horns in the air and playing with themselves over a picture of Dragonforce while blasting those damn people who oppose their precious music.

Don't worry young uns... you'll soon learn that going outside looking like a cross between a transvestite and a bat isn't very clever...or comfortable.

to be fair thats increadebly narrow minded and childish thing to say, why cant people dress the way they like, why is it up to you that they look 'like a cross between a transvestite and a bat' perhaps you look like an idiot to many others, but its fine for you to look like a prat because perhaps you dont and thats just ignorent fucktards talking shit they dont know or understand.

be a bit more understanding of other people and there culture (yes metal is a culture) and perhaps one day you will gain a little wisdom, because its ok for people to be different from you and maybe just maybe they like it that way :)
Comment was a joke...3 of my best mates dress like that. I often tell them that they look like that.
Guess I better justify myself here.
I was once a metal fan...a big metal fan. You name it, I've heard it. However, I got sick of the bullcrap the scene seemed to pull. The high brow attitude, the lack of respect to any other music, the fact they weren't really different like they claim. Just go on a Justin Bieber song on youtube and you can see their attitude. I had this discussion with a friend and this lass he was with.
Case and point- Went to a metal night in a Fred Perry polo shirt and G- Star jeans. Got looked at like I was dirt. Some girl actually said to me 'the fuck you doing wearing a Fred Perry?'

Yes this can be applied to any and every group, interest etc.

No offence meant by the comment regarding bats. I encourage individuality. Just not individuality to fit into a social group.

OT- I'm still waiting for someone to show me how any metal song is better that MIA or the Blackout Crew.

Oh contrare, everything sounds better played by an orchestra.
This man speaks the utter truth. Can you honestly tell me this song could be made better by a metal arrangement:

In fact, I would go so far as to say that most/all metal arrangements are worse then the original versions of the songs (in my opinion, of course).

Personally, I agree with the orchestra statement. A professional orchestra can make everything better. EVERYTHING!! There is probably nothing like it. I do enjoy jazz and bebop as well. Some metal is okay, but there is so much of it now...

Everything sounds better when it's metal because you're young and angsty. You'll grow out of it one day, don't worry. :p

Have you been to raves? Blackout crew leads me to think maybe heh.

I was the same as you, Metalhead of 7 years or so that just grew fed up of the scene and the bullshit elitism, and discovered raving. BEST vibe you'll ever get on a night out, metalheads, hippies and chavs side by side, no animosity, everyone's just there for the music and to dance.

Some of us don't like metal.

K,thxbai.
Are you meantaly ill, meatal is awsome for both listening to and riding to.
i like it how the pubescent metal fan insults someone's intellect, but fails to spell mentally correct.

i wonder if he knows what irony means.
Also not that he failed to spell "metal" Check and you'll see that he wrote meatal :D

I just image-searched meatal... Don't do it *shudders*...

OT: Everything sounds better by an orchestra. No contest. You can find the "best" metal out there, and there'll be a number of orchestrated songs that are better.

You guys must've been unlucky with the metalheads you hung out with. As of now, I'm a metalhead to the bone, but right now I'm listening to Analogik [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8cVIOvdbQo] and I respect almost any genre with any quality to it and even a few without. Same thing rings more or less true for most of my metalhead friends.
Also, this year at Wacken (my first year, it should be noted) I saw a lot of people wearing rather 'normal' clothes and few or none of them were looked down upon because of that, as far as I experienced. Of course there are dickhead with the metal scene too, but not anymore than within any other group of people.

You guys are help building a bad and - to my experience - often undeserved reputation around the metalheads, just saying.

No bad feelings though - peace!

EDIT: Just wanted to reply to the OP too. I disagree that everything sounds better in a metal version. For example, Cradle of Filth's version of Temptation by Heaven 17 is absolutely horrendous, especially compared to the original.

If a metal version of Sixteen Tons by Tennessee Ernie Ford exists, I'd like to hear it though. There's an excellent ska punk-version, so I think it might work.

Well, from reading the fist page and a half, people seem to think Orchestral versions are much better than metal versions.

Which I total agree with.

but I just thought idd throw this in there; Synphonic metal anyone? :)

Try anything by REO Speedwagon and say to my face that it's good. Go ahead, try me. (Also, speaking as a metal fan, so there)

Am I the only one that finds the term K,thxbai to be incredibly condescending?
If you don't like metal, and you don't feel like playing his game, don't post.
I want to smother you in jam and feed you to starving bears.
Then I will record the screams and overlay them into a song I will write called
BEARPOCALYPSE which will be a epic 43 minute power ballad about the downfall of
jackass LOLcat fans and their spawn.

OT: Tom Jones - Whats up pussy cat

I love metal in all its forms and all its nuances. But can we really compare to TOMJONES???
