Metal covers aren't better than the originals... They're a change of pace and a demonstration that an artist can put their personal touch on a classic.
I like metal but can't stand all that screamy crap. The first time I heard the deathmetal "Baby One More Time" I laughed but it got skipped after the first 20 seconds.
Check out this fpr a good example of a metal cover that has no chance of exceeding the original but otherwise stands out as really cool version.

I love metal, and I think that most songs are improved by metal covers. That said, I strongly doubt that you can improve anything by Junior Wells by setting it to metal.

If you can find a metal cover of Hoodooman Blues that is clearly superior, I will not only eat my hat, I'll take a video of the first bite and post it to Youtube.
