Why does Fox berate game designers constantly when their parent owns game companies?

Its because all but two (Bret Baier's show and ummm...what was the other?) of the shows Fox News are opinion shows, not news.

Fox News is in the ratings business. When you're in the ratings business (as ALL commercial cable news stations are, CNN and MSNBC included), all you care about, naturally, are ratings. And what generates ratings better than scare stories?

Fox News, as much as I disagree with them, are not stupid. They are, in fact, run by some very, VERY clever people who know their audience. That's why they're so popular. They know that young people are either 1) Left-leaning or 2) uninterested in the news. They know that their primary audience is not made up of young people. They also know that, although games are become more and more popular amongst older folks, the main middle-aged, baby boomer types (or older) who make up their audience don't really play games, and have kids.

Therefore, a scare story about video games does the following:

1) Attract the attention of parents
2) Attract the attention of older viewers desperate to find something wrong with the current generation in order to complain about them (and trust me, there's nothing older folks like doing than complaining. They LOVE to complain. It's how they pass the time)
3) Allow themselves to be painted as the "moral" guardians of "Christian" America! That is, if you disregard the breast-implanted hosts, the constant invitations for skimpy-clothed models to appear on their business shows (I'm looking at YOU Cavuto), and the fact that NewsCorp and Fox have their fair share of sleazy, trashy shows.

FoxNews cares about ratings first, and integrity somewhere around eighth. Like all cable news shows, really, they only care about ratings. You shouldn't be so shocked that they would pander to the fears of their audience. Remember, negative stories always, ALWAYS attract more attention than positive stories. It's in the interests of the news media to make it seem like the whole of civilization is poised on the edge of chaos, and that it is always the fault of people who look/sound different than you!

tbh that's not as bad as describing their second largest stockholder as a terrorism funder.

Fox News is made of whores. People like conflict yet hate being blamed themselves.

Fox News takes advantage of this by constantly blaming other things for violence, as humans can't possibly have anything to do with it.
How about you stop being judgemental and sanctimonious? I don't watch or like thier news show but I don't presume to know thier personalities.

News is just a product to sell. Fox sells on conservative values, which means slamming games. The parent company doesn't care as long as it doesn't affect sales elsewhere, which is doesn't

Cool story, bro, but describing them as whores, I refer to the company. As for the "people liking conflict" and all of that, that is one of the first lessons they teach you when you study journalism.

And it's human nature to avoid the blame. The majority of people don't like taking blame.

Whenever they insult gamers, they get attention, it's a pathetic marketing technique that makes them look like a joke.

Probably the same reason they tried to seek legal action against the producers of the Simpsons (20th Century Fox - protip: themselves) for making fun of Fox News =p

Really? "Fox news is made of whores" You obviously aren't calling fox itself a whore because you're saying its made of them. It can't be more obvious that you were talking about the people, just own up to it.
Also, I never said people didn't like conflict.

Maybe I'm way off here but I don't think Conservatives are the ones who make Fox news, well exist at all and certainly not fiscal Conservatives. I'm a Liberal myself but I debate with a lot of Conservatives and like you both, they can't stand not just Fox news, but any report that is not based in facts. It may be my own bias but I believe it's mostly the religilous zealots, racists and Limbaugh lovin' ditto heads keeping them around. Oh and also the poor folk that they manage to terrify on a regular basis. I feel sorry for them.

Geez! Calm down mittens, I'm sure Jim meant no offense to ACTUAL whores.... (Ya' gotta' love Bill Maher, yeah? He may not always be "fair and balanced" but he IS always hilarious and informative.) If you really want fair and balanced I'll spell it out for you: C.S.P.A.N!

Or I have a weird way of saying things. You're telling me not to be judgemental while you will not accept that I mean anything different from your immediate preception.

I dislike Fox News. The Cororates and the writers are the problems. They do whatever they can to turn a profit, dignity and honesty be damned. I'm not judging their overall character. I'm not judging everyone in the bloody company. I'm just saying that the people in charge of what is reported don't seem all too big on honesty and fairness over profit.
