Why does Majora's Mask get so much hate?

I've always thought that Majora's Mask was the superior title to Ocarina of Time. Now don't get me wrong I love both, but Majora's Mask was:

Better looking
Bigger
Deeper
A lot more side stuff

The three day mechanic was genius. Inverted Song of Time you idiots who say it goes by too fast. I've beaten it with normal speed though, it's easier than Dead Rising.

My initial reaction to MM was, I admit, ambivalent at best. I wasn't a huge fan of the rather difficult beginning (assuming you don't know what you're doing), but I quickly grew to love it for it's very involved story, clever mechanics, and the entire general atmosphere of the game. MM added to the Zelda series something that I've always kind of thought the series needed: A sense of urgency.
Sure, you could restart the 3 day cycle anytime, but there was always that pressure to get something done before the entire world ended. Better that in my personal opinion than being able to basically just faff about for days and days while some annoying fairy yells in your ear about how immediately important it is that you just get on with it already. You knew it didn't matter until you decided to let it matter.
It was certainly not without it's flaws (getting through an entire sequence to open and access a dungeon was basically impossible in one cycle at the normal time speed) and the save system was...frustrating, to put it delicately.
But considering the depth and number of the characters and stories in the game world, it really kind of made you feel like the world was a real...place. And you were just another person in it. A remarkable one, yes...you are the hero after all...but it was still a world that kept on turning for all the people in it, regardless of whether you were there to fix their problems or not.
I liked OoT. I loved MM. I really don't know how people can complain against the game, but I know that people will *always* find something to complain about.

People bitched much more about Majora's Mask back when it was new; I remember that much.
Today, I think time has been much kinder to it, given that it's the only game I know to date that does the whole "Groundhog Day" time loop well.

Maybe I'm surrounded by ignorant people, but it feels like everytime a conversation makes its way to Zelda games, Ocarina of Time gets a sycophantic pleasuring and Majora's Mask gets a deuce laid upon its noble brow.

These wankers will say the most absurd things: "the clock system doesn't allow enough time to complete dungeons," "the characters and story were stupid," "it doesn't 'feel' like a Zelda game." And in summation, they even go so far as to call it a "stupid," "bad," or "terrible" game. Not just "inferior to God's holy firstborn, Ocarina of Jesus," but actually a bad game.

My cards are on the table: I loved MM. I've completed it more than OoT (6 times to 4), though I'd rate the two games as equals. But how is it that a gamer who loved OoT can hate MM?
I know what you mean. While it doesn't get the love of OoT most of the time, it usually doesn't get much like either. Sure the people here love it, but that's part of why the came here, myself included; they saw the title and thought, "WTF?," I fucking loved that game! But really it doesn't get too much praise. Personally, I love the game. It's my favorite over OoT. It's different and much more out there, and always refreshing every time I play it. ^^

Never heard any hate, nor have I played through the whole game, but it has a timer doesn't it? That seems like zelda blasphamey to me. Having collectables is a major part of zelda games, having a timer is like some sort of sick tease. That may have put some people off it.
