Scientology is nothing to worry about, if it ever get's too big the freemasons will just shut it down.
Ain't that the truth!
The only reason they still get more members is because for some reason people think that it makes more sense to buy everything.

1. As many have already said it was created by a science fiction writer, that created the religion to make money

2.It seems that to "progress" in Scientology that you need to, sorry required to give large amounts of money, also to indocrinate those around you to also give lots of money. Seems a bit more like a pyramid scheme than a religion.

It's a cult and I'll be happy when they all drink the kool aid

An organization that calls itself a religion does not magically become one any more than a five year old with a paper crown on her head becomes royalty just because she says she's a princess.

A religion is an organized structure to teach a spiritual path. Scientology is an organized structure that has no spiritual path.

Whatever your issues with religion, they have nothing to do with Scientology.

Because its a cult that makes you pay money to belong, and the people who do this are just desperate and looking for answers.

It isnt as dangerous as other religions.
WE can worry about them when Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism and Buddhism is reduced to a minimu, because those are far more dangerous.

Just kidding about that last one.

They have just completed finding your current location and are on their way to you now.
Thank you, have a pleasant rest of your life.

On topic, it is a con and whilst many religions actually do help people by way of spirituality and charity (shock horror!), this 'religion' has only been known to cause pain, suffering, empty wallets and slightly brainwashed individuals.

All I've got to say on the matter,
Ever worked with a scientologist? ever laughed at them about the fact that L Ron Hubbard was a science fiction writer, and pointed out the quote he made about wanting to create his own religion to control people prior to founding the movement?
Had any late night phone prank phone calls in the middle of the week? and then unordered pizzas and building materials turn up on your door? And then had a number of weird baseless rumors circulated about your personal life at work? Then have equipment signed out of the store in your name that you never saw go missing? and then even after all this shit fails, have a racist diatribe written in your work area on your wall when your on your break, and when you return find your manager waiting with your walking papers stating that there was a witness that saw you write it on the wall, but to protect the staff member they can't name them.
Yeah I loooooove scientologists, did I confront the freak? hell no he can rot his ass off in that cult. I was working the next day in a better job, give these creeps a wide berth, and if you do have the misfortune to be near one look up "Fair Game" and "Suppressive Persons".

There are numerous belief systems that have been around for a long time, (ie: Buddhism,) that believe in the concepts of past lives.

In 2500 years, not a single one of them has mentioned anything about Xenu or any galactic empires.

The people who were experts on this exact subject have never said anything about it, and yet a science fiction writer was the one to reveal the "truth?"

Just use simple logic and reasoning and you'll come to the sensible conclusion.

It seems to have been done to death this topic but I am hoping to possibly give it a new spin after a conversation today with my dad sparked by the death of John Travoltas young un.

Now one of the main thrusts of the arguement against scientology is that it's created by a fiction writer, this is rather valid as a criticism however most of the Torah, bible etc are fictionalised, none of it is literal truth but a series of instructional tales.

That scientology is a secretive organisation, so was christianity in the Roman era which was about the same period in its evolution as scientology is at this moment, when you have a new faith you are rather nervous of having it tested until you have everything set in stone. Doctorine takes hundreds of years to form not 50!

They take peoples money which makes them evil of course no religion has ever taken advantage of it's believers except for the crusades, tithing, the fact that pope lives in a palace whilst the poorest adherents of Roman catholacism live in shanty towns and how often have you placed money on the collection plate in church?

It may be wacky and to some incidious and evil to others but why are there imaginary friends singled out for ridicule versus everyone elses? Speaking as a Discordian I much prefer disorganised religion!
Also there was that whole thing where members of Scientology infiltrated the US Government to destroy any and all documentation that cast Scientology in a bad light. It's kind of an iffy thing to do if you aren't villainous. Not to mention the books that have been written about the whole brainwashing stuff.

For years, TV has taken the micky out of suicide cults and shadowy organisations which to the outside look like a malicious attempt to swindle money out of people.

Then we find a real one that says everyone is infected with evil alien bacteria/souls or whatever. The only surprise is people haven't come down on it harder.

Well, it is kind of a joke. Have you read what they believe? Go ahead, I'll give you a chance. Some aliens impregnated a volcano? What the hell is that? But this is coming from an Atheist who believes in no higher being, no higher anything really. There's us, there's the stars... then the rest is for our children's children to find out.

No other church equates loss of wealth with spiritual power, or teaches specific attacks to use on non-hostile non-church members.

Even the Church of the Subgenius [http://www.subgenius.com/] realises the all religion is a lie and money is just a means rather than the end.

I read that wrong the first time.
It's a much more interesting idea when it's read incorrectly, although I'm not sure the Pope would approve.

One word- "Disconnect"

Any "religion" that encourages the destruction of families and homes, isn't a religion, it's a cult, and one that should be illegal. In the UK these cults aren't considered religions, but in the more right-wing countries such as America and Australia (but not Italy, for obvious reasons) they do, which is a shame.

That and L Ron Hubbard, a science fiction writer, who once claimed that the "easiest way to make a million dollars is to invent a religion", invented this one based on space aliens, which reads exactly like one of his shitty novels.

It's a religion, where they tell you what's wrong with you, but unlike other religions, you have to pay for enlightenment, up to millions of pounds, and to cut out negative outside influences they encourage you to disown your family legally, and never see them again. They are a brainwash cult, that rip you off, and destroy peoples lives, and they are supported by retard "celebrities", which mean that in America they are more important than God. Scientology is bad, but the creator, L Ron Hubbard, was worse. Banned from even entering the UK, he even performed a home abortion on his wife with a coathanger, in front of his kids. This piece of shit scum constantly lied about his life, but if you want to stand up to, or discuss scientology, they have ways of shutting you up, including well publicised smear campaigns.

http://topdocumentaryfilms.com/scientology-and-me/

(if this video isn't online, check the secrets of scientology link below it, it's the sequel)

A great documentary, funny as well as scary.

You should read up on it, you couldn't believe some of the shit they get away with, while in certain countries, they are allowed to be considered a religion. It's so retarded, it makes my mind boggle. It's keeping my faith in Britain, because we ain't fallen for that shit, nor the Westboro Baptist Cunts.
