Why don't you like Matt Smith as the Doctor?

I don't get why one show needs to change it's main actor every season. It feels like a very hard series to get into.

it isn't every season. Matt smith is on his third and david tennant was on for about 4 or 5. Get your facts straight before assuming mate.

This is a stupid argument and it should stop now. The point about it being a difficult show to get into for some people is perfectly valid, and the fact that he was wrong about it happening every season is nothing to get worked up about.

umm, Maybe I'm wrong about matt, but david tennant had four I am fairly sure. 2 with billy piper, one with Martha jones and 1 with the forgettable red head.

He only had one with Piper, the ninth doctor had one with Piper as well.

I dislike his acting.
I've nothing to add to really explain that, just personal preference.
.. I also dislike how he's been dressed.

In addition, I don't feel it's possible to be better than Tennant, so I'd always know I was watching an inferior series.

I used too be against him because he seemed too "teenager-like". Also, i REALLY wanted James Nesbitt to be the successor of Tennant.

Of course, once the actual series with him as the Doctor started, i shut my stupid, skeptical mouth pretty quickly.

It actually wasn't that hard to jump into. I just started last month and I'm going through the reboot series right now.

At first i liked him unconditionally just because he didn't burst into tears every 5 minutes about his tortured past like Tennant (who i did actualy like). But now i'm just enjoying him for his actual portrayal of the doctor. Some prancy, jokey, dancey silly twat. and i love it. The cast around him have become a lot less likeable and wooden. but as for the doctor himself, i genuinely like Matty McSmith

Sweet! I myself had to dig through St vincent De Paul racks and bins until I found a similar-looking coat for a fancy-dress event a few years ago when I went as the doctor. I hope it isn't as pricey as the Matt Smith screw-drivers were.

I've found that most people who dislike Matt Smith are either not too fond of the new series to begin with or they were too fond of David Tennant and everything attached to the Ecceleston/Tennant seasons.

Let's face it, aside from River Song (that's a pretty weak link, but I digress) and a few other minor things it's almost like a new series within a new series (newception?) so that might be why some people feel alienated by him.

Personally I enjoy Matt Smith as much as I have any other doctor. I only really got interested in the doc in that Tennant trilogy with the master (there were those tiny robot balls that enslaved humanity...he got really old I think too) so it might be because I feel a stronger link with him than I have with the others. But no matter who he's played by I'll tune in to see the doctor's adventures each week (and how good has this latest season been?! Who's with me?).

Still too much, it always annoys the crap out of me whenever a movie/series decides to switch actors. So yeah, this is not for me.

Why? it makes the character fresh because new actors bring a different style. Do you really think this series could go on using one actor for all this time?
OT: I do like matt, alot. Although I do like david more, and chris the least.

It's just not for me, I get 'attached' to characters, both in appearance and personality traits. I want my actors to finish the series.

I don't understand why people have a problem with him. He's eccentric and unique like any other of The Doctors. People just need to get used to him (though I can't understand if they haven't by now).

OT: I think that Matt Smith is my favorite Doctor so far, even though Eccleston was my first Doctor. Not sure why I like Smith better, I just do, and Tennant looks... pretentious, in some way.

It has actually taken me quite some time to figure out what it is about him I don't like. Usually, tall, thin built, funny, quirky guys are a thing for me but there is something about him that puts me off. I figured it out the other night while talking to a friend. HE HAS NO EYEBROWS. Seriously, his eyebrows are so light they disappear and his eyes are so deep set that he looks like a skeleton. It disturbs me.
Other than that, I am tired of him playing travel guide for a married couple. Also, Rory being constantly jealous over what everyone else knows is nothing is getting very old and more than a little annoying.

David Tennant was more energetic, I suppose. I haven't seen enough of Smith to care one way or the other. Although, he is pale enough to glow. Isn't it international law that all actors own tanning beds?
