Final (petty) gripe, Mass Effect voiced the main character. I really missed that, I felt a great lack of punch from losing the main character voice acting. I also understand why bioware couldn't, with about 15 character origins and eight(maybe?) character archetypes, the main character voices would have cost them a ludicrous sum.

TL:DR I love Dragon Age but the scope for choice scares. Also it is hard.

Ps first topic, please go softly
Point taken but I did not miss the mass effect voice for the main character.... I played dragon age and mass effect many times but with dragon age I got a good feel of the character... with shepard no matter what decision I made of being an ass or the good guy... It was the same freaking guy... there are literally choices in the game between the dialoge where shepard says the same thing and like you said in dragon age..... the dialog is pretty big.

I take it you weren't after Morrigan then?

And yeah, Dragon Age was really hard. But it was incredibly rewarding. Loved it for that.
Right again, Hub. It's also between normal difficulty and too hard. It's challenging. The puzzles are also great when you figure them out, especially the Yusaris one in the tower.
Probably one of the most rewarding games 2009.

Especially when defeating the Dragons.
Oooh, don't spoil it for me. I have yet to beat either (there's 2, right?) of them. I was going to on my first character (a mage) but I found it so boring that I made a second character.

Gotta love Dwarf Warriors in Blood Dragon Armour.
3.

I have a "special" strategy that guarantees victory against the High Dragon, so if you get stuck on that one, just let me know.
Which ones are there? Oh god, I can only remember the Haven dragon.
There's High Dragon, the Darkspawn leader, and then a really spoilerific Dragon that I won't tell you about, because it's a surprise.
I didn't count the Archdemon and I've played through the game once. I remember there being 2 other than the Archdemon. Is the aforementioned 'spoilerific' dragon part of the main plot or do I need to go somewhere specific?
No, the spoilerific dragon is something you can skip

It's part of one of your party-members quests.

Does it involve Wynne in any way? Mine does!

Hey, you're that asshole from that bullying thread! I'm not talking to you.

Nah, I'm just kidding with you. Of course I talk to assholes. It makes me feel smart. [sub]Totally kidding here also... don't hit me[/sub]

Almost though, mine involved Morrigan.

Took me 20 minutes. Runnning up and down, up and down, up and down, up and down

Good thing I found that "strategy"

Mine was too. Hurray for sharing women! *high-five*

When Alistair climbed up and shoved his sword through the skull of that dragon I got the biggest, most awesome rewarding feeling ever.

Although with the High Dragon I just used Morrigan and ran up and down so it couldn't kill me until it was dead.

125 hrs? You must have went off to disco or something in between somewhere. Several times. Or you're simply unused to Bioware's style and are over thinking things. For hours. I never checked my hours for the first run but they can't have been more than half that.

Wittiness aside, the choice, if present is binary throughout the game for the most part. You either side with one side in the conflict or side with the other. Whichever side you choose, you'll progress with the storyline. Now, I've heard there may be a third option somewhere, but I haven't been able to make it work. I'd suggest hanging around on their official forums, there have been threads from people sharing their various experiences with the games, and I'm sure you'd find answers to what puzzles or disappoints you :)
I have to agree, I am a master of squeezing as many hours as a game can give and only managed around 60hrs doing every sidequest (and I talk to everyone and use every possible conversational option offered)

I did love Dragon Age, though I think my first playthrough was about 40-45 hours? Without any DLC, though I'm pretty sure I missed some stuff. Hence the 2nd playthrough. It really is FUCKING difficult though.

The one thing that kinda rubbed me the wrong way is that you can get it on with Morrigan as soon as you leave the first town. Picking the right dialogue choices and gifts means you can get her approval into the "Sex you up" zone by the time you leave Lothering. Kinda makes it not quite as rewarding...

I'm not an asshole, I'm a lovely mummy :'-( *sobs, then sticks tongue out and blows childish raspberry*
And I won't hit, I am clearly one of those 'softie pacifists', might send you to you room to reflect on your behaviour though.... ;-)
I did a LOT of running away, lol. And used Wynne pretty much to heal the others while standing waaaaay, way back chucking healing spells and drinking lyrium til I was sick ;-) And lol, at 'strategy'!
Edit - crikey! :-O The spoiler is about the dragon, not sending anyone to their room! Maybe should have previewed that before posting.

Clearly you don't hate DAO, just maybe feel overwhelmed by it!

Also, the bit I quoted, was for me, the BIGGEST issue in DAO. It really really pissed me off.

My hate for DAO is like how a lot of people hate their GF/BF. I loved to play with it but was scared that I would do something wrong that I would regret later.

I should have just posted that instead of my original post :/

It was an ok game.
The first playthrough took me about 30 hours, I guess I just wanted to see the story finally end. It wasn't exactly bad, just... too generic.

In my gamer defence, I did tend to leave the game running to do things like eat, pee, go to work (once) in the middle of a convo.

You're SUPPOSED to tread on eggshells throughout the entire game. It maintains interest (at least in me).

My only issue with the game is really that in order to role play my character I had to kill my favorite party member.

Bioware really knows how to hit me where it hurts.

I understand your opinion, but for me most things you describe as being bad are what makes the game so fantastic.

Your issues are why I love the game. Games are pathetically short and easy this gen. 5 hours? Fuck you. And you're going to just flat out tell me what to do/point it out?

I agree about lack of main character voice, but it's a minor inconvenience.
