Why is everyone so up-in-your-face about their beliefs?

I don't think I've ever pulled out a rainbow flag.
People usually don't ask or don't care anyway, but why should I hide it?
I'm not ashamed.
People like you who think that I'm being "in your face" just being myself and asking that I be treated the same as everyone else in society will probably be pissed at me even if I was a self-hating, closeted gay guy.

Frankly, I've never gotten in an argument over religion or sexuality... most reasonable people in Western society today don't care about the latter(they accept diversity) and the former is better left undiscussed entirely when dealing with strangers.

Never singled you out. I just said why must a homosexual pull the flag, not all homosexuals.

I've talked about this before with people, and I believe it is because they are insecure with their own beliefs and have to try and convince others to see it their way, and have to destroy other peoples differing beliefs to reinsure theirs is right. Sometimes they're arguing just to convince themselves.

I wish I had a good, intelegent response that made me sound smart, but the fact of the matter is simple: People are assholes. That's all there is to it.
They think they're right, and good luck to those who think otherwise.
Sometimes it makes me wonder just how my mother, a Catholic, and my father, an Atheist, managed to get married in the first place.

I think the most in anyone's face I've ever gotten about my lack of beliefs is asking questions about the parts of Christian lore that confuse me. From a Christian standpoint, that's got to be a good thing, especially if it makes them realize that a godless heathen like me knows more about their religion than they do.
And even this is limited to family and close friends. Every time a stranger has tried preaching to me, I just smile, nod, and wait for an opportunity to remember something important I have do do somewhere else.
I will, however, argue to the death with people like my mother who think that all homosexuals are child molesters.

I hear ya man. A friend of mine, real sweet lady, but a major Jesus freak. Every time she sees me she asks if I've "Accepted the true way". It's sad really.

I don't ram my beliefs down others throats, so I only ask the same in return.

Try figuring out my situation. I am an Atheist, my girl friend is going through the process of becoming Jewish, her mother is Catholic, and her dad is Muslim. Try to figure that one out.

it's an international topic so can be used anywhere,
and as they're beliefs, people don't change their opinions on them quickly,
having someone disagree on a topic you completely believe in is really frustrating,
therefore beliefs are topics peeps argue about a lot.

So you're getting up in peoples faces (virtually speaking) about people getting up in your face? Is that Ironic?

Compare and contrast: A nativity scene. Something put out to display your beliefs to people. By your reasoning, taking offense at such is acceptable.

The flag is neither pornographic or instructional. It is a symbol designating an individual of a group... A group that, by the way, have been treated very poorly by the rest of us for some time now.

I think you are confusing "acting gay" with "in-your-face gay".

Acting gay, e.g. hanging out with girls more than guys, having a feminine face, liking feminine things.

in-your-face gay, e.g. when you meet them they say, "Hi, I'm Pablo. I'm gay. And you are?"

There are 2 gays and 12 lesbians in my school and I had no clue until someone asked me if I knew.

So not all gays are in your face.

Very few people are... just, you know? The up-in-your face people, who usually aren't quite sure about their religion and have to bamboozle other people with how awesome it is in order to feel that they've chosen the right one.

Hmm, this topic just reminded me of my friend, who recently came up to the group we hang out in before beginning to preach to us that God was the only way and that we had to find him and accept him in order to gain eternal happiness and he wouldnt stop going on about it for two days. We told him politely that we were happy he found God, but we didnt want to.

I respect others religions and dont tell them to their face that they are wrong, so they should have some decency to just let me be.

People just want everyone to believe what they believe in. I mean people try to make me think I am evil for smoking.
