Why is Fox News attacks games a headline article, but the violent game against them not?

Not alot of room in the subject article, so I will explain this a bit better...

There, on The Escapist main page, sits an article "Fox News Attacks Games" with the Fox News symbol emblazoned by the article title. However, nowhere on the front page do I see the same article that popped up and seemingly quickly vanished about the violent game that has people KILLING people with fox news, people associated with the Tea Party, etc. etc. Why isnt THAT up on the main page as well?

Is this site really that damned liberal, and biased? I mean, sure, I have seen PLENTY of it here, but how is that fair in any way to put one up and not give the other one just as much visibility? Has anyone else noticed this as well?

Yeah but there are very, very few people that like FOX news here.

FOX is full of crap so we like articles about them so we can hurl abuse and make mocking comments about the size of their genitalia.

Are you kidding?

Okay, before I go on, let me get one thing clear: I am not defending the Tea Party Zombies game. I think it's tasteless and dumb.

But we're talking Fox News, first. It becomes comical to throw around "liberal" and "biased" when speaking of a news agency that defended putting out material with targets over actual political figures' whereabouts. They actually sued for the right to lie on the grounds they're not really a news outlet.

We're also talking major titles being slammed on Fox as a temptest in a teapot, vs a crappy flash game that's basically only getting publicity because news sites are taking notice.

These are not exactly the same thing.

Nor is it indicative of a "liberal bias."

Well, actually yes. This site is quite liberal.

I'm not sure if gamers in general have a slight bias towards liberal views (though it wouldn't surprise me), but the community of this site at least seem to be very left-leaning with most topics. I don't see why this is a problem, but then I am a leftist myself, so I wouldn't.

Your opinion, and thats fine. I disagree. True, Fox News' stance on video games have riled me up as well, but I disagree about the lies and fear mongering. They are against liberals, against Obama destroying this country, and against big government. If that truly is there stance, then I agree with them.

Besides, I do notice the tremendous amount of Fox News bashing around here, but I really dont see any bashing of MSNBC. They, in my opinion, are far worse.

Either way, to me its just another example of how the left likes to put their spin on things. If this had been a game with MSNBC staff members, or Chris Matthews and such, I can promise you it would have been headlines here, as well as EVERYWHERE else.

I agree. It is extremely liberal here. It makes it tough sometimes, too. Unfortunately, where I work has a firewall against anything having to do with games, so I practically cannot go to IGN, Gamespot, etc. but for some reason it lets me come here. Go figure. :)

Yeah... dirty fucking liberals with their open mindedness! How dare they think for themselves!!

EDIT: Also I'm gonna go out on a limb and say most people don't so much dislike Fox because they aren't liberal, it's just the people are such... cunts, for lack of a better term :p

Just so you know, the term 'Liberal', as applied to left-leaning political views in the USA, differs markedly from many other people's interpretation. In fact, many people who identify as 'Liberal' in fact are more 'Left-wing' compared to the Conservative 'Right-wing'

Don't mean to seem like a smart arse, but it's something I've wanted to bring up for some time.

On Topic:

Of course this site is biased. Every source of news is biased, because human beings write and publish news stories and will see things through the filter of their sphere of experience.

Did the Escapist deliberately censor one story over another in order to project an image which appeals to people who identify as 'Liberals'? Probably not.

Did the journalists' inherent liberal biases cause them to overlook the TPZ game, but consider Fox News' reactions to violent games as newsworthy? Also unlikely. Why? Because of the sheer number of variables in play in a decision like "Which articles should we publish?"

Really? You don't think it's lying or a blatant attempt to induce fear for Fox to characterize this game as representative of the left in general? To claim it evidence of hypocricy when by all indications the game has no ties to anyone but the man who made it? You dont' think that's dishonest?

I'd say because the game is just some dumb thing no one will ever hear about while there is actually a fair number of people who watch Fox News.

Of course we are biased against Fox News. You wanna know why? Because they earned it. Fox (along with News International in general) are an embarrassment to the information and media industry.

Actually, I guess I misunderstood him. I thought he was talking about lies and fear mongering in reference to the things they report on our current administration, and the economy. In which case, I DONT see that as lies or fear mongering. I see it as the truth. I DO believe this administration is on a fast track to wreck our country, far more so than any we have had before.

But if he was referring solely to the comments on the games, then that isnt what I was referring to....

When it comes to video games, I agree... Fox News gets a serious case of the stupids, and I just ignore it outright. I dont agree with EVERYTHING they say, I just find I agree with more things that they say, than with the other media outlets, especially MSNBC.

I, as a conservative who believes in the Tea Party and what they stand for, who believes in smaller government, not bigger government, whom thinks that higher taxes on the wealthy is robbery... am a big boy. I know that opposing views are going to take shots and such at things I believe in, even go so far as to make video games killing certain figureheads and such. I think its tasteless, yes. But its going to happen. My whole point with this thread is that I think its bullshit for one side to get a free pass for anything like this and not get ripped, if the other side is... Again, can you IMAGINE the outrage if someone put out a videogame where you could shoot Pelosi, Reed, and the rest of the crowd?
