There was a short period of time where I found him tolerable. He ratcheted it up to 11, moved to fox and ratcheted up to 12.

I suggest going to wikipedia for the grounding in all this terminology. Communism is classically far Left and Fascism is Far Right. Democrats and republicans are typically far closer to the center than either of those extremes, left and right respectively. Its kinda like how hitler and stalin both had a couple good ideas, but because they were batshit insane both of those extreme ideologies are utterly defunct now. ANYWAY, theres tools like glenn beck and olberman who are extreme, noisy morons who yell really loud and get a bunch of other tools who congregate at their respective ends of the political spectrum all riled up.

In america, 10% are batshit insane lefties, 10% are batshit insane right wingers, and the other 80% is stuck having to pick between candidates selected by one side or the other.

They're leveled as insults because socialists want to take your money to give it to ghetto mammas with 16 kids, and in the mean time steal your guns and send em to mexico so that the mexicans can come up here and and defile your daughter and take your job while they make you buy a new car that gets at least 30000 miles per gallon and replace all the lightbulbs in your house and keep your tire pressure full and maintain your lawn at no more than 4 inches tall and never use the R word the F word the C word or the D word. Likewise, right-wingers are racist hillbilly morons who are so busy watching nascar and fucking jackalopes that its surprising that they still have enough time left in their busy days to quote the bible and beat up homosexuals (or darkies, which are most likely homosexuals).

As a disclaimer: I am personally quite reasonably republican, but am quite happy with obama at this time. I will change affiliations if the republican party fails to compromise on the budgetary discussion currently embroiling government.

maybe some references in the OP towards who Glen Beck is, what he does, some links etc would be helpful for those who don't know who he is.

Glenn beck is a guy who thinks any democrat is evil because they like the idea of socialism. Socialism is when the Government will help out on a issue. Republicans usually take point in saying Obama is a communist because Obama believes strongly in socialism... and communist states use their governments to give the people what they need just like socialism...also the Nazi's were socialist. Yet socialism isn't a bad thing, but because it was linked with Nazi Germany and communism some Republicans think you must be a Nazi or Communist because you like Socialism.

Oh and Right wing means your very conservative as opposed to liberal... at least that's my interpretation of it.

Don't get to involved in it and life will be much much better for you.

He's like Ayn Rand politically but he's a fundamentalist Christian. How could he be any worse?

Someone on my facebook posted that he wanted proof of why Glenn Beck was called a racist, idiot, and ignorant. I personally don't care for him, but I don't have any proof. I just don't care for strictly opinion news on Fox News. Too often do I hear them talking out their ass and then having to make a formal apology for their actions. I just stick with the "factual" news.
who?

don't block me for this escapist. someone fill me in, i have no idea who this person is or why i should care. and to my knowledge none of my friends in the uk have heard of him either...

I really hope you're joking. Anyone who has ever watched the guy talk for more than five seconds (or would it even take that long) should be able to clearly see that he is not only a paranoid, delusional moron, but that he doesn't "say what needs to be said". He says whatever will be most damaging to society, polarize idiots against ideas that are genuinely good for most of them, and basically do everything he can to encourage hatred, violence, and racism. The best thing that has happened regarding the guy lately was his losing his highly visible soapbox on Fox News. Even if it does mean Jon Stewart has to look elsewhere for material.

Those are the most awesome definitions of the 2 American political groups I have ever heard.

How the fuck do you get "encouraging hatred, violence, and racism.", from his show? He talks about the stuff that nobody else wants to talk about, and I think it's safe to assume that you formulated that opinion on sound-bytes that were taken out of context. Also, Colbert is better anyway.

Nazi does stand for National Socialist German Workers Party, but they (I believe, please correct me if I'm wrong) started out socialist to gain the publics support and turned facist at some point. Also, communism is the extreme of socialism (Soviet Russia) and socialism is basically equality (same wages etc) as opposed to capitalism (which is 'survival of the fittest', what the US has used for years). As enzilewulf said, your life is much easier if you learn about it and then leave it.
OT: Why is Fox hated? I live in NZ and have only heard numerous 'in jokes' by the Simpsons and Family Guy.

...eh? He makes shit up, usually racist or anti democrat or anti anything which isn't hardcore righty tripe and spouts it as the God given truth. He's a liar, consistently shown to be one. He has nothing to offer this world except his swift exit. He talks about things no one else does because the stuff he's talking about is so ridiculous it's pathetic.

Lemme fire up the ol' Dictionary-o-matic.

Right-wing: Support for a ridged hierarchy of power. So in the context of Politics (of which I'm quite sketchy about), I guess right-wing would be calling for a little more power to governments so that they can do their jobs better.

My best guess for why its an insult is because of some of the deranged figureheads that represent them: Mr Beck here being one of them.

Left-wing: Support for a system of government that gives more power to the people being governed. This would lead to things like transparency and greater say in important decisions.

This could be an insult in America due to a lingering mentality that Communists are an enemy to be feared, dating back to the Cold War. Communism is the extreme end the left-wing ideology. Its a guess though but not unheard of. The English still like to think that Germany is its big rival after two World Wars. In actual fact, the feeling is not mutual and Germany couldn't give a stagnant toss about England.

Socialism: A left-wing way of running an economy by letting every citizen have some sort of control over factories and the like. It spreads out the control over such things to the public.

It sounds very Left-wing, and I guess the association with Communism would make the concept more frightening.

However, it could also be arrogance behind using mere ideologies as insults. Basically, one person believes in one thing and is too much of prat to believe that anyone not on his side is an idiot. To the arrogant person, the opposite side becomes an insult.

How much of his show have you actually watched? By what you're saying, I'm assuming you're just jumping on the bandwagon of people here that say what you just did.

That goes for anyone here too, I'm going to assume they don't watch the show at all unless someone says otherwise.

The guy says cringeworthy, embarrassing and provably wrong things then bursts into tears. All calculated to pander to his audience...

it's not hate, it's crushing embarrassment that he could get on tv and be popular.

From the fact that, as others have mentioned, he makes things up repeatedly to polarize people against anything seen as left wing, and tries to convince people that everyone from Obama to the entire Muslim world are out to get them.

He talks about the stuff that nobody else wants to talk about, and I think it's safe to assume that you formulated that opinion on sound-bytes that were taken out of context.
Care to give examples of what he talks about that no one else wants to? What has he ever had to say that is so vitally important to society that no one else wants to talk about? I'd honestly like to see you give examples. And as for my opinion of him, you can assume whatever you like. It doesn't mean Glenn Beck isn't still a liar and an idiot, or that we aren't all a lot better off with him not confusing real issues with lies, misinformation, and paranoid propaganda on a prominent news network.

Also, Colbert is better anyway.
More popular perhaps, but I find the Daily Show much funnier, as well as generally better at satirizing the news and politics. Not to mention that while not being a serious program by any means, Stewart is far better in the interviews than Colbert.

You know that Colbert is just doing a satirical take on Glenn Beck, and spends as much time making fun of him as Jon Stewart does, right? To clarify: Steven Colbert is. a. Liberal.

The hilarious thing is that Nazi Germany was *not* socialist, and Hitler was not left wing, yet Conservapedia still has images of him plastered to every one of their articles about anything Liberal. :p

By the way, could someone please post the link for one of Jon Stewart's Glenn Beck impersonations? They're bloody hilarious, but I can't find them anywhere. :S

Some of us have better things to do with our lives than watch cable news reports, let alone ones that report 'opinions on news' (rather than ACTUAL news), because they're all biased, whether it Glenn Beck, or some left-wing opinion show.
